Nick Aldis has been WWE SmackDown's General Manager for almost a year and, in that time, he has been unable to step back in the ring. Aldis has not retired from in-ring competition and was still wrestling on the independent circuit up until he was hired to take over SmackDown. Over the past few months, there have been teases about a potential match between Aldis and WWE RAW General Manager Adam Pearce. The 37-year-old himself has made it clear that while he is not pushing for a match, he has not ruled it out.
In recent months, Aldis has acquired the services of Chelsea Green, who joined SmackDown in the 2024 WWE Draft, and unlike Pearce, Nick refuses to deal with her antics. The 37-year-old has punished Green many times with matches that she was easily defeated in and it could finally be time for someone to stand up to him.
Chelsea Green's husband, Matt Cardona, was part of WWE until his release in April 2020 and is one of the biggest names on the independent circuit. The Indy God could be open to making his return to finally push Aldis to lace up his wrestling boots after a year on the sidelines.

It remains to be seen whether Cardona returns to the Stamford-based promotion somewhere down the line.
Nick Aldis is married to former WWE Superstar Mickie James
Chelsea Green and Matt Cardona could start an interesting storyline if the latter was to make his return and take on Nick Aldis since the SmackDown General Manager himself is married to former Divas Champion Mickie James.
There is a chance that the 45-year-old could be open to returning to WWE to be part of a storyline with her husband which could then become a mixed tag team angle similar to the one between The Miz & Maryse and Nikki Bella & John Cena several years ago.
It would be interesting to see if there are plans for Aldis' in-ring return at present.
