Monday Night Raw: Why Batista's emergence to end the show made most logical sense

Heading into last night's RAW, many fans were speculating that Becky Lynch would crash Ric Flair's 70th birthday celebration and get her way back into the WrestleMania main event. That theory was fueled even more when she interfered in Ronda Rousey's tag team match and was arrested. However, that did not happen as instead Dave Batista made his shocking return and laid out Ric Flair backstage, setting up a match with Triple H at WrestleMania 35. As unpopular as this may be, this ending was perfect and makes the most sense logically.

First, how many times has a WWE superstar been "arrested" only to show up later in the show to cause chaos? Too many times to count is the answer. So, it was a nice change of pace to have Lynch remain "incarcerated" instead of going the predictable route and have her make bail and return to the arena. As cool as it would have been to see Lynch put Flair in the Disarm Her, there are plenty of other ways for her to get back into the match at WrestleMania.

This ending also makes sense if you remember that last October on Smackdown 1000, seeds were being planted for a Triple H-Batista match during the Evolution segment when Batista said Triple H has never beaten him. Those plans seemed to be off though when Triple H tore his pectoral muscle during Crown Jewel the following month, but Triple H has healed quickly and it seems like the match is back on. So, what better way to get the feud going again than destroying Triple H's mentor on his birthday and humiliating The Game? Batista also works much better as a heel and he prefers to work as a heel so we will be seeing the best version of Batista.

Batista can still go in the ring and he gives WrestleMania another huge main event. Let's be honest here: Besides the RAW Women's Championship match, no other match has that "WrestleMania feel" yet. Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar have had only one confrontation. We still have no idea who Daniel Bryan is defending the WWE Championship against, and there will likely be no Undertaker this year so WrestleMania needed a huge match and this is it. Plus, Avengers Endgame is coming out the same month as WrestleMania so WWE can ride the publicity wave all the way to MetLife Stadium.
