Money in the Bank 2019: Predicting the entire 8-woman field for the MITB ladder match

This year's female briefcase match seems pretty unpredictable.
This year's female briefcase match seems pretty unpredictable.

2019 has already been a pretty big year for the women of WWE. After a groundbreaking 2018, which saw the first ever all-women's pay-per-view, this year has already been a big one. This is thanks in no small part to Becky Lynch, the current Raw and Smackdown Women's Champion and the biggest star in the company. Her popularity reached unthinkable heights, as she made her way to the main event of WrestleMania against Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair.

The match was a really big deal, despite the controversial finish, and now the Man is on top of both Raw and Smackdown. She has had a number of potential challengers come up to her on this week's editions of Raw and Smackdown, the Superstar Shakeup editions. And with the Shake-Up out of the way, we now know who is on which brand.

It is time to build towards Money in the Bank, which will host the third annual women's Money in the Bank ladder match. Hopefully, WWE books the right people for this match. There will be four superstars from Raw and four from Smackdown, like last year's ladder match.

That match was a massive improvement from the first one ever, which saw James Ellsworth unhook the briefcase for Carmella. There was also a contrast in cash-ins, as Carmella waited for the longest time ever to use her title shot to win the Smackdown Women's Championship, while Alexa Bliss cashed in just hours after winning it. Whether this year's Miss Money in the Bank will cash in soon or wait patiently, WWE has to choose the right person. But before getting to the destination, the journey must be a good one.

With that in mind, here is the predicted lineup for the 2019 women's Money in the Bank ladder match.

#8 Alexa Bliss (RAW)

Last year's winner will go for it again this year.
Last year's winner will go for it again this year.

With Ronda Rousey on hiatus and Lacey Evans most likely facing Becky Lynch for the Raw Women's title at the show, Alexa Bliss is Raw's biggest available heel for this match. It's a good thing she has experience in it as well, winning the entire thing last year before cashing in on the same night. Bliss has returned to action following a lengthy stint away from the ring, during which she graced Monday nights with her talk show, 'A Moment Of Bliss'. She will likely be in the lofty position she was in before her injury problems.

The Goddess showed the entire WWE universe last year just how well the Money in the Bank briefcase could be utilised. Initially an unpopular winner, her eventual cash-in ended up being one of the stronger ones in history. Bliss will certainly be one of the favourites to win it once again, as she would add some vital star power to this match.

The Raw women's roster seems slightly empty, so perhaps Alexa Bliss could be gearing for another big push towards championship contention. A strong showing in the 2019 Money in the Bank ladder match would be a good place to start.

#7 Charlotte Flair (Smackdown)

She is the best in the WWE
She is the best in the WWE

Another obvious choice for the match, Charlotte Flair is the best female wrestler in the entire company. Her athleticism would be enough to make her thrive in such an environment, but the Queen has much more than that.

Charlotte would be an instant favourite to win the briefcase, but after all the time she has spent in the title scene, it would not be in WWE's best interests to immediately insert her back into the main event picture. Charlotte should really spend some time away from the Smackdown Women's Championship, until SummerSlam at the very least.

The Queen is an 8-time Women's Champion, halfway through to her father's illustrious record. She should remain as far away from Becky Lynch and her titles as possible. Charlotte would be excellent for this match, but not in the role of the victor. Let her remain in the midcard for a while, helping to build more and more credible women for the greater good of the roster.

Her current heel persona is also really good, one that she should play for a long time. However, it absolutely does not require a Money in the Bank victory. Charlotte should not win, despite the massive looming threat of her eventual victory.

#6 Natalya (RAW)

She would add a solid presence to this match
She would add a solid presence to this match

Only three women have competed in every Money in the Bank ladder match possible, Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch and Natalya. Becky will be busy defending her Raw Women's Championship against Lacey Evans, leaving the two remaining women to possibly hold the joint distinction.

While her days as the top female on the roster are long gone, Natalya is a strong and solid competitor in the midcard these days. Her experience is a vital factor in certain situations, like the upcoming ladder match.

In terms of pure wrestling ability, Natalya is one of the greatest females in WWE history, and she would certainly add a lot to this match. She is still one of the top faces on the Raw brand, having partnerships in the last year with Ronda Rousey and Beth Phoenix, and might possibly get a Women's title match in the near future.

Her role in this match would be to be the glue that keeps everything together, as some of the newer women take the stage to showcase what they are capable of.

#5 Ember Moon (Smackdown)

She could play a big part in the coming years
She could play a big part in the coming years

After a difficult year on Monday Night Raw, Ember Moon is now on Smackdown. She was the first person to interrupt Becky Lynch on Tuesday, possibly foreshadowing a future title match. The match between Becky and Ember would be outstanding, but while the Man is occupied, the War Goddess will look to impress in the Money in the Bank ladder match.

This is the perfect opportunity for her to prove how good she really is. A victory here might not even be beyond the realms of possibility.

Ember Moon is certainly going to be a future Women's Champion in the WWE, it is just a matter of when. Whether now is the time to strap the rocket on her is the company's call.

Things are looking promising for her, no doubt, and she is a real contender to unhook the briefcase on May 19th. Also, we really need to see Ember hit the Eclipse from a ladder. That would surely be one of the best spots of the night.

#4 Naomi (RAW)

Naomi seems like a no-brainer for a match like this
Naomi seems like a no-brainer for a match like this

Naomi is on the lower end of the card but is also capable of some great things in the ring. Her athleticism is top notch and is perfect for Money in the Bank matches. The former Smackdown Women's Champion could be an integral part of this year's match after having a fine showing last year.

She moved to Raw during the Superstar Shakeup in what seemed to be a necessity, with her husband, Jimmy Uso moving along to save the Raw tag team division alongside his brother, Jey.

Naomi is still another solid face on the roster, as she has been for a few years now. Like Natalya, her days of being the champion are likely over, but she remains a steady hand on a roster filled with fresh and upcoming talent.

She will likely give another really good performance at Money in the Bank, but does not really have much of a chance to leave Hartford victorious.

#3 Carmella (Smackdown)

She was the first-ever Ms MITB.
She was the first-ever Ms MITB.

The winner of the first-ever (and technically the second one as well) Money in the Bank ladder match is likely to be a part of the third one, after she was right in the middle of her damaging title reign at last year's event. Now, Carmella has found her niche on the main roster and is really good in the role she is in.

Shortly after losing the Smackdown Women's Championship, she entered into an unlikely partnership with R-Truth. It has been one of the more entertaining things on the Blue brand in the second half of 2018.

Carmella remains a semi-favourite in the eyes of WWE management, earning various accomplishments like the Mixed Match Challenge and the WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal. This shows that she is still a valued member on the roster and is capable of having a solid match with the top women on the roster.

She absolutely should not win the briefcase again but as a couple of others, would be a nice presence in the match. What are the odds of getting a 7-second dance break during the Money in the Bank ladder match?

#2 Sarah Logan (RAW)

She will be in for an
She will be in for an "Experience" at MITB.

The Riott Squad got split up due to the Superstar Shakeup, with Liv Morgan shifting to Smackdown on her own. Ruby Riott and Sarah Logan are still on Raw but now, it seems unlikely that they will remain a team. Riott should get a singles run going, but there are many other faces on the roster that might warrant the spotlight on them before her.

After a really impressive showing in the WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal, Sarah Logan looks to be in position for a gradual boost in credibility.

Her Viking look might smoothen over a transition into an experience, a Viking Experience. It certainly helps that she is married to Eric, formerly known as Rowe from the War Raiders.

Aside from her appearance in the 2017 Mae Young Classic, Logan has been untested in singles action in the WWE. This will be a test, but the company seems to be putting some stock behind her for the time being. That will likely include qualification for the Money in the Bank ladder match.

#1 Bayley (Smackdown)

Could MITB spark a new beginning for her?
Could MITB spark a new beginning for her?

Bayley was separated from Sasha Banks during the Superstar Shakeup, nine days after they lost the Women's Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania. If you are stuck in a stagnant and meaningless storyline with your tag team partner for a year until the tag titles are created, then you have the right to expect a nice and long reign with those titles.

That is what happened to Bayley and Sasha. If you are told on the day of WrestleMania that you would lose those titles and be split up with your partner, you have the right to be upset.

The past week or so has been pretty unkind to the Huggable One, being separated from her tag team partner after they spent an entire year doing absolutely nothing to win the tag team title and getting heavily booed by the Montreal crowd on Smackdown.

However, WWE has the opportunity to turn Bayley's fortunes around in the very near future. She is now a singles competitor and with no Sasha in sight, it could be time to turn her heel.

She should be part of the Money in the Bank ladder match, her first one, and showcase a much more vicious side to her. WWE should allow Bayley to embrace the heat she is getting, the results may surprise everybody. A victory in the ladder match could be the catalyst to this heel turn and the revival of Bayley's career.
