AJ Styles defeats former WWE champion after nearly 3 years on RAW

AJ Styles competed against Chad Gable on the latest episode of WWE RAW. This was the first time in nearly three years that the two stars faced each other in a singles match on the red brand.

Their last match took place on the December 12, 2022, edition of RAW, and The Phenomenal One got the victory. Last week, Styles faced El Grande Americano and CM Punk in a Money in the Bank qualifying match. He went for the Phenomenal Forearm, but the luchador caught him with a headbutt and won the match. There was a steel plate inside El Grande Americano's mask.

It's been speculated for weeks that El Grande is actually Gable in a mask, but the former's identity is yet to be revealed. On RAW this week, AJ Styles and Chad Gable went one-on-one. The American Made leader nailed the wrestling veteran with a flying headbutt for a two count.

Styles planted him with a powerbomb, and The Creed Brothers, who were at ringside, tried to interfere in the match, but Styles attacked them. Chad Gable locked AJ Styles in an Ankle Lock, and the Phenomenal One tried to go for a Calf Crusher but turned it into a Styles Clash. He pinned the multi-time tag team champion and won the match.
