Arn Anderson reveals WWE angle that hurt Wade Barrett's run

Arn Anderson is currently the player-coach of Cody Rhodes and accompanies him to the ring on a regular basis. However, before his time in AEW, Arn Anderson was a producer backstage in WWE and worked with various different responsibilities. In his position, he was very familiar with the decisions being taken backstage which led to the direction of the product on television. One of the things that he talked about recently on his ARN podcast (h/t Wrestling Inc) was Wade Barrett's run in WWE.

During his show, Arn Anderson talked about Wade Barrett and Heath Slater as two members of the Nexus that he felt had a lot of potential, but were not treated well in WWE. Anderson went on to talk about a mistake that WWE made in booking Wade Barrett's character when they presented him with the 'King of the Ring'.

During his recent podcast episode, Arn Anderson talked about Wade Barrett and spoke about the mistake that WWE made with him, and also praised Heath Slater for his work in WWE.

"Well, you can dissect the members of Nexus and what they had to offer. God knows they had it in them. You take Heath Slater for example - when given the chance, he did well with everything that was presented to him. Wade Barrett, too - he's a big, tall, good-looking guy, good worker, very creative on his promos, everything. There were no holes in weight anywhere."

"He was a guy that if you were to just continue to groom and build his character and take your time with him, God knows the limits this guy could have had. When you start fiddling with it - that whole King of the Ring thing concept to me was just dated, and it was a 'haha' act. And [I question] why they felt the need to put that on him. I think it damaged him more than it helped him."
