Since his second WWE run ended in 2020, EC3 has created the Control Your Narrative (CYN) and Exodus Pro wrestling promotions. As part of his job, the one-time NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion often shares words of wisdom with up-and-coming stars.

EC3 discussed his role as a mentor with host Dr. Chris Featherstone and former WWE writer Vince Russo on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws. Regarding young talents' willingness to learn, he stressed the importance of earning a living outside of the wrestling business.

"Wrestling is weird. Quality of reps are a big thing, too. So, for the aspiring independent wrestlers, especially people I'm bringing up, I kinda tell them pick and choose the ones [wrestling bookings] that you're going to get better at, live your life, because you're not making [enough] money wrestling. You're making money wrestling, but you need something to live," he said. [7:45–8:06]

EC3 on the ramifications of WWE reducing live event schedule

In 2023, Endeavor purchased WWE and merged the company with UFC to form TKO. Since then, WWE has prioritized television broadcasts and significantly decreased its number of untelevised live events.

While EC3 understands the business decision, he thinks rookie wrestlers are missing the chance to learn from experienced stars.

"If you have a shoot job, as they would say, don't throw away a day of serving, where you're gonna make a few hundred bucks, to go drive four hours for 40 dollars on an indy with some local vet who's never left the town. The quality of reps is important. That was what [WWE] house shows were about because you had the younger, greener guys working with some veterans." [8:06–8:32]

The former TNA star also addressed one thing that has changed since Triple H replaced Vince McMahon as WWE's creative figurehead.
