The former Universal Champion has been preparing for months to get back in the ring for his swan song.

He has been rumored to face Gunther, and it shouldn't surprise anyone since WWE ran an angle between the two men at Bad Blood last year.

Now that The Ring General has reclaimed the World Heavyweight Championship, speculation has been rife about the Austrian star locking horns with the WCW icon in the near future.

Did Goldberg get injured before WWE retirement?

In a recent interview with the CarCast podcast, Goldberg revealed that he hurt himself a couple of times while training for his comeback.

He went on to say that it was tough to get back in shape, especially for someone of his age.

"I hurt myself a couple of times in the past three months, umm, but I've pulled back and it's really tough to have the mentality I do but to have the body that I do now and with the mileage on it and then go into the Muay Thai gym and hit the pads and not go crazy and then blow a shoulder out and blow your biceps out and, you know, pull your hamstring from throwing a high kick. It's just, there's a huge balance and I've been in the ring a couple of times, I'll be getting in the ring today, and it's just tough, man. It is tough."

Despite hurting himself, WrestleVotes confirmed that his injury wasn't anything serious and he would be ready for his impending retirement match in WWE.
