This week’s episode of RAW saw a disappointing display of both competitiveness and sportsmanship from an 11-time WWE champion. Following this, he was confronted regarding his behavior on the show by his longtime ally, to which he had no answers. The name in question is Xavier Woods.
The New Day member looked very distraught and frustrated despite suffering a clean and fair loss against Jey Uso. The WWE Intercontinental Champion extended his hand with friendship and respect to The New Day following his win. However, while Kingston shook his hand, Xavier Woods walked out. Moreover, he even refused to help Uso when Bron Breakker attacked him.
Kofi Kingston jumped in the ring to save Mr. Yeet alone when Woods didn’t budge. But this resulted in Breakker steamrolling both him and his teammate. Following this, Kingston regrouped with Woods after the show in the locker room and confronted him about his behavior.
He specifically asked why he disrespected Jey Uso and declined to help him when the Yeet Master was their ally. In response, Woods burst out with frustration and said that he was tired of handling everything on his own and always being the considerate one.
“Because I’m tired of it always being on me. It’s always gonna be on me. First, I gotta go out there, I lose to Jey Uso. A match for the Intercontinental Championship. Then, I gotta get up, shake his hand, and thank him for the match? Then on top of that, I gotta go in the ring and make sure that he doesn’t get his ass kicked? When is it not on me anymore, man?”
He even said that while Kofi Kingston called him The New Day’s “QB,” he failed to follow through with that. Teasing a betrayal, Woods even said that he didn’t know what they were doing without any directions on WWE RAW. When the former WWE Champion asked if this was the time to discuss this matter, Woods gave up on the conversation.
“I don’t know. I don’t know what we’re doing. I don’t know.” (H/T Fightful)
Jey Uso commented on Xavier Woods’ disrespectful behavior on WWE RAW
While Jey Uso wasn’t given the respect he deserved by Xavier Woods, the Intercontinental Champion tried to shoulder a positive outlook on things. Uso was asked about Woods’ actions following the match by RAW Talk’s Jackie Redmond.
Responding to the question, the WWE Intercontinental Champion said that while he expected better from Woods, he knew he was dealing with some baggage.
"Good match. I appreciate it was Xavier Woods. I thought he showed some better sportsmanship out there because we go back from day one type stuff, but you know, I'm saying my hat's still off to him. I still got respect he just needs to find his way, you know, I'm saying so he's battling something." [0:31 - 0:44]
While Jey Uso seemed cool about the crude behavior of Woods, The New Day member now has another reason to delve into negativity. It will be interesting to see when he will snap and eventually turn heel after constant teasing for weeks.
