In one of his recent blogs which reviewed the WWE TLC pay-per-view, Jim Ross referred to WWE World Champion AJ Styles as the second coming of WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels. He also claimed that Styles was the best pro-wrestler at present and one around whom a brand could be built.
Ross wrote:
“Athletically, AJ is the second coming of the great Shawn Michaels and they both possess natural, innate timing that can't be taught. AJ Styles, for my money, is the best in ring talent in the business today. He's the type of athlete that WWE can build a brand around.”
Talking about the memorable match between ‘The Phenomenal One’ and Dean Ambrose at TLC, he stated that it was one of the year’s best matches and the two athletes made great use of tables, ladders and chairs. According to Ross, they connected well with the crowd as well as the announcers, which is really important to succeed.

Jim Ross wrote about the feud between AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose:
“AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose was,arguably, as strong a bout as WWE has had in 2016 and the two, skilled performers ability to utilize all the toys of a TLC match were incredible.
The two sold extremely well which helped me to 'feel' what they were experiencing which is always imperative for the talents and the broadcasters to embrace with the viewers.”
The legendary WWE commentator predicted that Ambrose could turn heel in the near future. Ross wrote:
“I can see Ambrose turning heel sooner than later when the proper hand has been dealt creatively in order for him to run with it on a main event level.”
Good Ol’ JR also had a word on James Ellsworth and hoped that he realised how much leverage he was receiving as part of the main roster because such chances don’t come along so easily. He wrote:
“WWE is obviously enamored with the James Ellsworth persona and presentation. I hope that Ellsworth is fully aware of what a break that he is receiving as they don't come along like this that often.”
Speaking of the newly crowned SmackDown Tag Team Champions, The Wyatt Family, Jim Ross was of the opinion that it may be difficult for the WWE to prevent them from turning ‘baby faces’ as their traits match up to the tastes of the present WWE Universe.
“Curious to see how WWE battles to keep Wyatt, Orton and Harper from becoming character baby faces.
That likely won't be easy. They are unique, rugged, defiant and unapologetic which are all traits that it seems that today's vocal, male fan base gravitates toward.”
