Kevin Owens teamed up with Randy Orton to defeat Austin Theory and Grayson Waller in a tag team match on WWE SmackDown this week. Following a win on the blue brand, the former Universal Champion issued a public apology on social media.

Owens initially brought an independent wrestler, identified as Ricky Gibson, as his mystery tag team partner for the contest. It was stated that his original partner had some travel issues, resulting in a change of plans. However, right when the bell was about to ring, Randy Orton came out to team up with the 40-year-old.

This was followed by Owens delivering a stunner to Ricky, which went viral on social media. The Prizefighter has now issued an apology to Ricky for his actions on WWE SmackDown and also thanked him for agreeing to be his tag team partner.

"Thank you [and sorry!] @rockinrickyg," wrote Owens.

Will Kevin Owens and Randy Orton pursue tag team gold?

In the past few months, Kevin Owens and Randy Orton have shared a lot of screen time. The duo has been pretty dominant as a team and has taken down some of the biggest names on the roster together.

Orton and Owens both had a shot to win WWE World Titles at Bash in Berlin, where they gave their best but couldn't walk out as champions. Soon after competing in championship matches at the premium live event, the duo joined forces once again, hinting at an extended tag team run over the next few months.

The tandem could now add the Tag Team Championship to their bag of accomplishments while delivering some intriguing storylines on SmackDown. Fans will have to wait and see what WWE has in store for Kevin Owens and Randy Orton in the next few weeks.
