Naomi won the Women's Money in the Bank ladder match this weekend. Following this win, she addressed the situation when she quit WWE in 2022.
In 2022, Naomi was one-half of the Women's Tag Team Champions, along with Sasha Banks, when they both decided to walk out of the company due to creative differences with Vince McMahon and WWE. They handed in their titles and then left the Stamford-based promotion. Following her departure, The Glow went on to have a pretty successful run in TNA Wrestling before she returned to WWE at the 2024 Royal Rumble.
Since then, she has come a long way and even won the Money in the Bank contract this past weekend. During the Money in the Bank post-show panel, the WWE star broke character to address her walkout from 2022, stating that she had to leave in order to change and evolve her character so that she could get back to the top. She then got back into character later on in the presser to issue a warning to the locker room.
“After experiencing my little situation, my walk out and coming to TNA, I came back with a different mindset and different attitude,” she said. “I think it is the one that I needed all along. The Glow in the beginning of my career got me this far, but I felt with this new revelation and evolution of women in this top-tier talent, I had to become something else to get back to the top. That is what I’m on the journey of doing and becoming now. Everybody who don’t believe in me, like it, or got something to say better, proceed with caution.” [H/T - Ringside News]
Becky Lynch also addressed Naomi's walkout from 2022
Becky Lynch was also involved in the Money in the Bank Premium Live Event. She faced off against Lyra Valkyria and won the Women's Intercontinental Championship. However, she hasn't forgotten about Naomi's walkout from 2022.
On the same post-show panel, Becky Lynch noted that The Glow walked out on her and now she wanted to come after her, but she should think twice before doing so.
“I’m not afraid of nothing,” Lynch said. “Oh, everyone wants to see Naomi get an opportunity now? Naomi walked out on me. She thinks she’s going to come for me, she’s got another thing coming.” [H/T - Ringside News]
It will be interesting to see when The Glow cashes in her MITB contract.
