Pete Dunne just beat a former WWE champion. This happened just a day after his failed assault on Sheamus.

Pete Dunne has been feuding with Trick Williams on NXT for the past few weeks. This all started a couple of weeks ago with Dunne's change in demeanor. When Sheamus tried to help him against Bronson Reed, Dunne shoved him away.
He then attacked the Celtic Warrior the following week on RAW. This kickstarted their feud. Even last night on WWE RAW, Dunne tried to attack Sheamus, but the Celtic Warrior managed to narrowly dodge him. Meanwhile, on NXT, Dunne seemed uninterested in helping Trick Williams when he came to him for advice after losing the NXT Championship.

Not only did Dunne not help him, but he attacked Williams from behind, leading to a match between the two of them on tonight's episode of NXT Great American Bash. Trick Williams brought the fight to Dunne in an evenly-paced match where neither man had a major advantage. In the end, Dunne managed to hit the Bitter End for the win.
With this win over a former NXT Champion, it remains to be seen if Pete Dunne will find himself in title contention.
