Ronda Rousey's mother had a hand in convincing a current superstar to pursue a career in WWE, as fans learned in the latest WWE 2K22 launch stream.
Former NXT Women's Champion Shayna Baszler recently made a brief appearance during the big launch of WWE's latest video game offering, WWE 2K22. Baszler shared an intriguing story about what made her pursue a career as a professional wrestler.
As per Baszler, a short chat with Ronda Rousey's mom resulted in a WWE career for The Queen Of Spades:
"Actually, this is a great story. I was living with Ronda. The four of us were living in the same house with Ronda. We were training in the same gym, in MMA. I reserved the TV every Monday. I think SmackDown was on Thursdays back then? I can't remember exactly. But I'd have RAW and SmackDown reserved to watch. Every week, I'd plan my training around that. By proxy, the other girls would come, and got sucked in. (from 1:58:05 to 1:58:35)
"One time, Ronda's mom came over while RAW was on, I believe. Everyone got up to greet her mom at the door, I just was watching there, watching what was going on. Ronda's mom came in the room and she goes, 'Oh, Shayna, you're not watching this, you're studying this.' I looked at her and said, 'What are you talking about?' Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler both did well in WWE
Shayna Baszler will be remembered as one of NXT's most dominant female stars. She held the NXT women's title on two occasions, with one of those reigns lasting 416 days.
Rousey made her WWE debut in 2018 and won the RAW women's title later in the year. She lost the belt to Becky Lynch in the main event of WrestleMania 35. She then went on an extended hiatus that ended at this year's Royal Rumble. Rousey won the 2022 Women's Royal Rumble Match and will challenge Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women's title at WrestleMania 38.
