WWE News: Sheamus speaks on storyline with Cesaro

The oddball pairing seems to be clicking well

Sheamus and Cesaro have been in an active storyline together since August. They had two matches, where Cesaro was successful in both. They started off a Best-Of-Seven series at Summerslam, where Sheamus had won the first 3 bouts and in a classic babyface manner, Cesaro made the comeback winning the next 3.

At Clash Of Champions, the two powerhouses had a stellar bout, many considering it the match of the night. However, the match had an inconclusive finish, which left many fans scratching their heads.

The next night on Raw, General Manager Mick Foley told the two that he couldn’t allow the two to fight with each other anymore for fear of their safety. However, he gave an out-of-the-box solution when he paired them up and told them that the “Championship opportunity” they were promised was going to be a Tag Team championship opportunity.

The story of the pairing is that the two cannot get along, yet they are a force to be dealt with due to their individualistic hard-hitting nature. One-half of the team, Sheamus, sat down with TheSportBible.com and gave his take on the storyline with Cesaro:

We knew what we had as an opportunity and we knocked the hell out of each other for seven matches and the best thing coming out of it was after nine matches [in total] people were wanting us to keep fighting. It was incredible for both of us and now we’re in a tag team, stuck with each other – which is an interesting dynamic!“

He further spoke about his desire for winning the Tag team gold:

“I’ve won the Royal Rumble, WWE champ, US Champ, King of the Ring, Money in the Bank – I’d love a tag team title to go with that but the storyline is the most important thing at the moment.

Sheamus had expressed his frustration before the feud about the fact that he was not involved in any active storyline and simply desired to be in a good storyline. It looks like his wishes were answered, as he is now paired with one of the most popular stars of the roster.

Sheamus and Cesaro are set to face off against The New Day at Hell In A Cell for the Raw Tag Team Championships. It will be interesting to see where the dynamic between the Irish and Swiss powerhouse will go moving forward, but clearly, something seems to be clicking in the storyline.
