Teddy Long worked for WWE between 1998 and 2014 in various on-screen roles. The 2017 Hall of Famer recently recalled how he gave his honest opinion after watching two women wrestle at an independent event.
Long is best remembered by WWE fans for performing as an authority figure and referee. The 77-year-old still makes sporadic appearances on television, most recently in April as part of the 2024 WWE Draft. He also attends independent wrestling shows.
On Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine, Long said he used the word "horrible" to describe a match he witnessed in Texas:
"The last time I think I had to talk to somebody were two girls on a show in Waco, Texas, is where I was that night. I just walked up to them and I just told them, I said, 'I hope y'all don't get mad at me.' I said, 'But I'm not gonna lie to you, I'm just gonna tell you the truth.' I said, 'It was f***ing horrible.' Exactly what I said to them." [9:33 – 9:51]

Mac Davis on Teddy Long's feedback to wrestlers
Wrestling Time Machine host Mac Davis attended a wrestling show alongside Teddy Long at the St. Louis Wrestling Hall of Fame.
On the topic of critiquing wrestlers' performances, Davis said he saw Long give feedback to someone after a match at the event. While some people viewed the wrestling legend's remarks as stern, Davis thought his friend was trying to help:
"I could see some of them freaking out behind me like, 'Oh, s**t, Teddy's giving him the riot act.' Teddy wasn't giving them the riot act. The person taking the criticism knew exactly what Teddy was doing. He was giving them constructive criticism from somebody that knows." [10:12 – 10:26]
Long has four decades of experience in the wrestling business. He has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, from Triple H and Vince McMahon to Steve Austin and The Undertaker.
