Cody Rhodes is currently busy running Monday Night RAW as one of the most prominent faces on the brand, but the company is already looking ahead to WrestleMania 40. However, fans are unhappy upon discovering the possible plans for The American Nightmare heading into Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Earlier this year, Cody Rhodes won the Royal Rumble match and punched his ticket to a match with Roman Reigns for the titles at WrestleMania 39. Unfortunately, he was unable to finish his story and never got another chance to challenge The Tribal Chief.
According to a new report, the company is working on a plan for Cody Rhodes to face Gunther at next year's event. This enraged fans as they want him to finish his story by beating Roman Reigns for the titles instead of going after the newly introduced World Heavyweight Championship.

The idea of a match between the two stars is very intriguing, and fans got to witness a glimpse of it at Royal Rumble. However, it clashes with Rhodes' current storyline to go after the title which his father couldn't in his prime. It will be interesting to see what the company does next with The American Nightmare.

After WrestleMania 39, Cody Rhodes tried to get another shot at Roman Reigns for the titles. However, The Tribal Chief declined it and asked Rhodes to find a partner for a tag team match. Unfortunately, Brock Lesnar agreed to team up, only to betray him in the main event.
The two stars met in a singles match at Backlash 2023 in Puerto Rico, where The American Nightmare outsmarted The Beast Incarnate and reversed the Kimura Lock into a pin and won the match.
Unfortunately, Brock Lesnar returned with a vengeance and attacked The American Nightmare on the RAW after the event. The two are set for a massive rematch in Saudi Arabia when Lesnar faces Rhdoes at the Night of Champions 2023.
Last night, the two began brawling, and Lesnar got the upper hand as he injured The American Nightmare's left arm. During the end of the broadcast, Rhodes was seen in a segment with Triple H, who tried to talk him out of a match with The Beast Incarnate.
