The Nasty Boys' Jerry Sags recently reflected on what happened whenever a fellow wrestler leaked insider information to the media.

Sags is best known for his tag team partnership with Brian Knobbs. They won several titles in the 1990s, including the WCW World Tag Team Championship three times and the WWE Tag Team Championship once.

In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter, Sags said wrestlers guilty of exposing the business would be punished behind the scenes:

"That's why the old promoters kept shooters [legitimate tough guys] around because either your a** got kicked or you were just fired, or sometimes it was handled inside the locker room between the boys themselves. 'What the f**k you doing? You dumba**.' It could lead to you getting knocked out. Everything changes with time. It goes with everything: boxing and wrestling, all sports, with the social media and stuff, they wanna know more and more." [4:32 – 5:08]

Jerry Sags dislikes modern-day wrestling information

When Jerry Sags broke into the industry in the mid-1980s, many fans were unaware that wrestling match outcomes were predetermined. At the time, wrestlers were also advised to remain in character whenever anyone tried to speak to them in public.

Almost four decades on, Sags thinks too much information has been revealed about today's generation of wrestlers:

"Does it make a bigger fanbase and make people more interested? Or does it hurt it? I don't know. I think it does more harm than good (…) The respect I have, that was taught for the business, it's disrespectful for me to talk about it in that way, or at least tell anybody what my business is about. They didn't pay their dues. They didn't earn the right to know that." [5:09 – 5:38]

The Nasty Boys worked for WWE between 1990 and 1993. During that time, they feuded with legendary tag teams, including The Hart Foundation and The Legion of Doom.
