The new WWE Women's Intercontinental Championship has caused all kinds of buzz on social media. Some fans love it. Others think differently. But it looks like former World Champion JBL also has something to say about the latest addition to the list of active championships in WWE.

Speaking on a recent edition of Live Q&A on Backstage Pass, JBL gave his honest opinion on the new WWE Women's United States and Intercontinental Championships. While JBL agreed with fellow panelist Gerland Brisco on WWE being bloated with titles, he said women should have the Intercontinental Championship because it meant equal representation for them.

"I think yeah, it could be. You know, it depends. It's like what Jerry (Gerald Brisco) says, what are you going to do with them (titles).? How many (main shows) you got running and how many shows you got running concurrently? A lot of times, back in the day, you had the Intercontinental Title headlining one show. You had the main title headlining another. You had the C show for the tag team titles. You had use for (more) titles," said JBL. [43:32 onwards].

He then proceeded to explain why having the Intercontinental Title for women was important.

"It's a little bit harder (today) cuz the shows are full of your main stars. So it's tough. The only thing I would say is if the men have the Intercontinental Title, the women should too. And if it's too many titles, then neither should have it. I think (women) have proven, over and over again, they're equal. That's why I think what the men have, the women should have - at least the same because they're same drawing power." [43:54 onwards]

The Women's Intercontinental Title made its debut on the November 25 episode of RAW. General Manager Adam Pearce told the WWE Universe they will see the crowning of a new champion via a tournament. The brackets are expected to be revealed by next week.
