WWE recently took a major step in terms of scouting out new talent. However, veteran journalist Bill Apter thinks this may affect people in a bad way under certain circumstances.

WWE ID, the new initiative, is an effort to provide upcoming indie wrestlers a chance to build a better career in the ring. The ID stands for Independent Development, and the program will also endorse certain wrestling schools to provide them with top-tier training and mentorship, among other things.

On Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine hosted by Mac Davis, Bill Apter shared his thoughts on the matter. He said:

"It depends on who you are. If you are an Indie wrestling school like the Monster Factory and you are not approved by them, it's like going to a school and getting a degree, you know you went to this important school, or you're gonna go to a school that's not really recognized as the most important. It's not just about going to the schools, it's also going to be where they are going to be following certain talents around as they develop in the Indie wrestling scene. So I think it's good in one way." [1:00 onwards]

Bill Apter thinks WWE ID may prove to be trouble for some independent schools of wrestling

While there are certainly benefits for young talent under the new initiative, Bill Apter is apprehensive about specific problems it may cause.

Adding to his previous comments on The Wrestling Time Machine, the legendary journalist explained that the schools that would not be endorsed by WWE ID could face trouble breaking even financially.

"But there are so many pro wrestling schools that I hope that this does not, you know, put any of them into a position where they're gonna have trouble making a living." [1:50 onwards]

As of now, it remains to be seen how the whole matter pans out in the future.
