#9. Kenny Omega vs Cody Rhodes- IWGP Heavyweight Championship
Omega and Cody started things off in a brutal fashion, as both men went at it right from the get-go, before the champion put the latter on top of a table and went straight through it, with The Bucks stabilizing the guardrail.
After a bit of back-and-forth action, Omega introduces a ladder into the match as Cody counters it with a steel chair, however, ‘The American Nightmare’ capitalized on the situation and sent Omega stomach first on the ladder in what was an absolutely wicked spot. Cody then sets up the ladder inside the ring as he prepares for a big spot through the table with Omega on top of it, however, thanks to Matt Jackson’s outside interference, Omega managed to score a comeback as both men started fighting on top of the ladder. The champion eventually ate a suplex from top of a ladder and into the ring.
Shortly afterwards, Omega started showing signs of a comeback as he attempted a brutal powerbomb through the table on the outside, as ‘The Best Bout Machine’ looked for a V-Trigger, only for Brandi to intervene and shield Cody instead.
Omega, however, hits the butterfly piledriver and follows it up with a V-Trigger and The One-Winged Angel for the win. After the match, Omega eventually helped Cody back to his feet as the latter exited, whereas, the champion celebrated and cut a promo with The Young Bucks.
Up in the aisle, The Elite was joined by fellow Bullet Club members Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa, and Haku who celebrated and shared Too Sweets with The Bucks and Omega, but, in a shocking turn of events Tonga, Loa, and Haku brutally started attacking taking them back to the ring and revealing their new shirts with a label that read ‘Firing Squad’.
The Tongan assault continued as the rest of The Bullet Club in Hangman Page and Marty Scurll came out to make the save but suffered the same fate as well. Fellow BC members Yujiro Takahashi and Chase Owens also came out to confront The Tongans, but, were also brutally beaten up as well, in what was a truly surprising move considering the fact that the two men have been very loyal to The Bullet Club thus far.
Cody eventually limps his way back to the ring, as Tama hands over a Steel Chair to ‘The American Nightmare’ as it seemed that Cody was the actual mastermind behind the attack, however, he instead attacks The Firing Squad with a Steel Chair, but the numbers advantage gets to him as well as Tama lays him out with The Gun Stun. The beatdown ended with Haku savagely laying out Omega with a piledriver, as Tanga Roa eventually cleared the entire message stating that: there is no leader, they are their own group and this is family.
Meanwhile, back in the ring, despite being brutally beaten up, Cody and Omega eventually help each other back on their feet and are apparently back on the same page, as the remaining Bullet Club members hug it out and close out the show.
Result: Kenny Omega def. Cody to retain the IWGP Heavyweight Championship
