What’s the story?

In a recent tweet, Bullet Club leader and former IWGP US Champion Kenny Omega finally revealed his thoughts on the upcoming mega tag team match between The Golden Lovers and The Young Bucks at this year’s Strong Style Evolved pay-per-view.

In case you didn’t know…

During this year’s NJPW/ROH: Honor Rising event, former seven-time IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Matt and Nick Jackson—collectively known as the Young Bucks—finally announced that they will be not be competing anymore in NJPW’s Jr. Tag Team Division and confirmed their move up to the Heavyweight Tag Division.

The Young Bucks, who made their NJPW debut in 2013, have been a part of the legendary Japanese faction the Bullet Club for almost five years now. The duo of Matt and Nick Jackson have also previously held numerous tag team titles all around the globe, including the Ring of Honor World Tag Titles, the PWG Tag Team Titles, and as aforementioned the Jackson brothers are also a record seven-time IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Champions.

The heart of the matter

As noted, The Young Bucks’ first match in NJPW’s Heavyweight Division will be against none other than the recently reunited duo of Kota Ibushi and Kenny Omega, the Golden Lovers.

However, as we all know, Kenny Omega himself is pretty much still a part of the Bullet Club and has a pretty strong bond with the Young Bucks, who along with Kenny was a part of the Bullet Club subgroup called The Elite. The trio of Omega and The Bucks, who have previously held the NEVER Openweight Six-man Tag Team Titles in NJPW, initially formed The Elite at NJPW’s New Year’s Dash event in 2016, when Omega took over leadership of the Bullet Club from AJ Styles, after “The Cleaner” along with the likes of Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows, Cody Hall, Matt and Nick Jackson kicked out “The Phenomenal One” from the Biz Cliz.

But, following the recent turn of events and dissension within the Bullet Club, all of which was mostly caused by “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes, Omega along with his best friend Kota Ibushi is now set to battle the Young Bucks at NJPW’s first ever Strong Style Evolved PPV.

Earlier this week, “The Best Bout Machine” finally decided to reveal his thoughts on facing off against Matt and Nick Jackson, via a recent tweet. Omega stated in his tweet that, as a friend he’s not completely sure if he’s ready to face-off against The Young Bucks, however, he promises that as a team the Golden Lovers will definitely be.

What’s next?

NJPW: Strong Style Evolved will take place on the 25th of March, 2018 at the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California, in the United States.
