NJPW News: Kenny Omega teams with Kota Ibushi to take on The Young Bucks at Strong Style Evolved

Cody Rhodes even has The Elite of the Bullet Club at odds with each other

What's the story?

Cody Rhodes says the Bullet Club is just fine, but it is anything but, as a major match was just announced by New Japan Pro Wrestling for their second special in the United States, Strong Style Evolved. The newly reformed Golden Lions of Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi will take on The Young Bucks in a clash of The Elite of the Bullet Club.

In case you didn't know...

Ibushi and Omega formed The Golden Lovers in January of 2009 within the DDT Wrestling promotion. The team disbanded in 2014 when Omega announced he was leaving DDT for New Japan Pro Wrestling. The team would reform earlier this year when Ibushi made the save on a Bullet Club attack on Omega.

The heart of the matter

For the past few months now, Cody has created fractures in the Bullet Club. He hasn't made his intentions known publicly, but it's clear he's trying to get everyone to turn on Kenny Omega. That fracture continued to break further at the recent Honor Rising event.

At Honor Rising, the Young Bucks stated they were going to move to the heavyweight tag division because Cody told them that Omega said he and Ibushi (known as The Golden Lovers) were the best junior tag team in New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Later on during Honor Rising, Omega proclaimed he and Ibushi were the best tag team in the world and Cody went right to The Young Bucks to tell them. They would interrupt Omega and Ibushi to set up the match at Strong Style Evolved.

What's next?

Before Strong Style Evolved on March 25th, next up for New Japan Pro Wrestling is the Anniversary Tour; which takes place in Osaka, Japan on March 1st. The four-day event is highlighted by an eight-man tag match that will team Roppongi 3K with Yoshi-Hashi and Kazuchika Okada to face Hiromu Takahashi, Bushi, Sanada, and Tetsuya Naito.

Author's take

This is a MAJOR addition to the Strong Style Evolved show. The fact that The Elite of the Bullet Club are split up and will have a tag team match definitely is a headline maker and probably will steal the show.

Add in Jushin Thunder Liger taking on Rey Mysterio and Hangman Page v. Jay White for the IWGP United States Championship, it is definitely going to be an exciting month leading up to the show to see what other matches are added to the card.
