New Japan Pro Wrestling legend Hiroshi Tanahashi may have suffered an injury during the company’s War of the Worlds tour, as reported by Cageside Seats. The iconic Tanahashi is coming off of a big win over former Bullet Club member Adam Cole.

Tanahashi has been credited with being one of NJPW’s leading stars over the last 15 years, helping drag the company from out of the gutter and back towards being one of the biggest promotions in professional wrestling.
The 40-year-old has had a career laced with success, which includes being a seven-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion.
The heart of the matter
The aforementioned report suggests that Tanahashi was injured during last night’s event on the War of the Worlds tour in Philadelphia. He’s apparently suffering from a bicep issue, but as of now the severity of the condition is unknown.
One of his scheduled bouts included a tag team match alongside Addiction to face Gedo, Will Ospreay and Goto.
What’s next?
We’ll likely find out more about the injury in the days to come, however, given Tanahashi’s tough nature there’s every chance that he’ll continue to wrestle through the injury.
As NJPW continue to gather momentum in becoming the second biggest wrestling promotion in the world, it’ll be interesting to see how much longer Tanahashi remains towards the top of the card.

It’s a shame to hear about anyone getting injured, especially when it’s a wrestler as seemingly invincible as Hiroshi Tanahashi.
With NJPW continuing to make even more of a name for themselves, it’d be a shame for him to be ruled out of action just before he can continue to put his name out there for new fans of Japanese wrestling.
