What’s the story?

During a recent appearance on the Chris Van Vliet show, Bullet Club member and Ring of Honor Superstar Adam ‘Hangman’ Page discussed his unique 'Hangman' nickname and how he came seemingly came up with the moniker.

In case you didn’t know…

In 2016, during Ring of Honor's War of the Worlds tour, Adam Page joined the Bullet Club when he turned his back on Colt Cabana, The Briscoes, and The Motor City Machine Guns during a ten-man tag team match.

Immediately after joining the BC, Page would seemingly go on to make a huge statement and send out a message to the entire ROH roster when he hanged Chris Sabin with the hangman's noose which gave evidently earned Page his “Hangman” nickname.

The heart of the matter

During his conversation with Chris Van Vliet, Adam Page claimed that the 'Hangman' nickname was apparently an idea that was passed onto him by former Bullet Club member Luke Gallows (then known as Doc Gallows), by the way of New Japan Pro Wrestling. (H/T: Still Real To Us)

“It’s something that was passed onto me from Luke Gallows by way of New Japan. I found out I was joining Bullet Club and going to New Japan and had probably two or three weeks to get ready for that. So it was something I didn’t get to put a lot thought into or a lot of time and effort into before it happened it was just something they said ‘Hey, do this’ and I said ‘Ok, cool. I’ll do it.’”

In addition, Page also spoke about his experience with the BC and noted that ever since joining the faction, his Professional Wrestling career has certainly changed in a huge way and things have been way bigger than anything he could’ve ever imagined.

“I think things would have picked up for me slowly more and more like they had been anyway but Bullet Club has been way bigger than anything I could have imagined.”

What’s next?

Following his brutal war with Kenny Omega at Wrestling Dontaku, Hangman Page is now set to turn his focus towards the upcoming ROH: War of the Worlds event where he is slated to team up with his fellow BC stablemates.

Author’s Take

Adam Page’s current Hangman gimmick is certainly a unique one indeed and his role in the Bullet Club is also pretty similar to Luke Gallows’ role as well. Page is definitely one of the most underrated stars in the world today and seeing him shine with the BC is truly a treat to watch.
