WWE has reportedly tried to sign Kenny Omega thrice in 2016

What’s the story?

After being betrayed by the Bullet Club during last night’s NJPW’s New Beginning show, Kenny Omega has given his first public statement in a recent interview with Tokyo Sports. During his interview with Tokyo Sports, Omega talked about the importance of the Golden Lovers tag team and also revealed why he refused to sign with the WWE.

In case you didn’t know…

During day 2 of NJPW: New Beginning in Sapporo, Kenny Omega suffered an upset loss to Chaos member Jay White, who after beating Omega, also became the new IWGP US Heavyweight Champion.

Following White’s win, Bullet Club member and Omega’s associate Hangman Page joined the pair in the ring as he looked to challenge “Switchblade” for the US Title, however, Omega then decided to hand the championship back to Jay White which eventually led to a heated argument involving the Young Bucks, Hangman Page, and Cody Rhodes.

Omega, Page and Rhodes would then go on to share a fist bump with each other, as things seemed to cool down a bit. However, Omega was then blindsided by Cody Rhodes who hit a devastating Cross Rhodes on “The Cleaner” marking the end of Omega’s reign as the leader and member of the Bullet Club. Omega’s former tag team partner Kota Ibushi then saved The Cleaner from a post-match Bullet Club assault, reuniting the Golden Lovers in the process.

The heart of the matter

During his exclusive interview with Tokyo Sports, Kenny Omega stated that when Kota Ibushi came to help him, he had a flashback of his time as Golden Lovers. Omega said that Ibushi has always been the kind of person who is somewhat hard to figure out, but despite that Kenny kind of understood something.

“The real Kenny is always at Kota’s side.”- Kenny Omega stated.

Additionally, Kenny Omega also recalled when he said that he wanted to face-off against Kota Ibushi in the G1 Climax final, but, Omega has now cleared the air and claimed that the truth is that he wanted Ibushi to stand next to him.

Further, the former leader of the Bullet Club also reflected on why he turned down the offers made to him by the WWE. Omega said that the reason why he did not go to WWE is that he was waiting for Kota Ibushi, waiting to change the world with his fellow Golden Lover.

“If we aren’t together, there’s no point. I want us to change the world together. I took belts with Bullet Club, did a lot, but that was all the job. Golden Lovers transcends wrestling. This is real life. As long as there was a chance for this to happen, I wasn’t going to say goodbye to NJPW.”- Kenny Omega added.

What’s next?

Wrestling fans have been sent into a frenzy ever since the recent occurring in Sapporo last night, and with the reunion of the Golden Lovers, we can certainly expect to see a few dream matches now come true. Golden Lovers vs Young Bucks is something that certainly comes to mind, however, Kenny Omega will look to get his hands on Cody Rhodes and get his revenge on “The American Nightmare”.

Author’s Take

I think this dissension between the Bullet Club will eventually lead to the Bullet Club originals taking over this group, by forcing The Elite to quit the faction.
