NXT: 5 Points to Note (November 23rd, 2016)

SAnitY will play an integral role in the following months

Survivor Series weekend started with NXT Takeover: Toronto, a show that made us proud to be wrestling fans; even during an era that hasn’t been kind to us all. Filmed in Canada, this was the first show after the grand showcase of talent that was Takeover.

As is tradition, with any show after an NXT Takeover, it was mostly a recap of the action that we witnessed earlier this weekend. However, there were some developments during the show; that should play out interestingly in the weeks to come. Simply put, this was the calm before the storm.

With a very ‘hot’ and loud Canadian crowd in attendance, we saw two matches that will definitely advance storylines in the coming NXT episodes. So let’s travel to the Great White North, for the A Show- NXT!

#5 Terrifying heel stable takes over NXT

Be it the singles, tag team or women’s division, SAnitY will play a big role very soon

Except for recaps from the excellent NXT Takeover: Toronto show, all we got to see this week were two matches. And only one of these matches was fought all the way through to the end. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the contest between cruiserweight Rich Swann and Kona Reeves.

The lights would go out, and the insane foursome known as SAnitY would come down to the ring to destroy both participants. Following which, cult leader and TNA original Eric Young would cut a cryptic promo, with his three disciples drooling all around him.

When Rich Swann’s partner No Way Jose would come down to ringside, he too would suffer at the hands of this out-of-control cult; which leads to an interesting development...

#4 Big match set for next week

NXT television returns with a bang!

It is fairly certain that Wolfe and Fulton will play an integral part in the tag team division in the coming months. As will Nikki Cross in the women’s division. But everyone in NXT has been excited to see the return of former TNA Champion and the resident madman of the rival brand- Eric Young.

We had seen Young in action against Samoa Joe not so long ago, a contest in which Young was defeated by Joe. Eric Young makes his big NXT return next week when he battles No Way Jose in a grudge match, which set up in this episode. We see this feud having excellent potential, and can’t wait for the outcome.

And that’s not all. NXT Champion Samoa Joe will be on NXT television next week too.

#3 Noah Potjes is now Kona Reeves

A new gimmick for a renewed push?

We have seen Noah Potjes on NXT television before, as enhancement talent against Tye Dillinger and Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas. This time he’s gone all Hawaiian, and Tom Phillips with Corey Graves, actually gave us an insight into his background; as Reeves made his way down to the ring, resplendent in Hawaiian attire.

Reeves has been trained by Afa, WWE Hall of Famer and one-half of the Wild Samoans (Afa’s tag team partner Sika’s son is Joseph Anoa’i, also known as Roman Reigns). We cannot be the only bunch of people who think that this attire is similar to Rocky Maivia’s original get-up. How far he’ll go is anyone’s guess!

#2 Tye Dillinger is the new Bayley

NXT has found its next underdog

Most of the show featured promos from the fallout of NXT Takeover: Toronto (although honestly, we’d already seen them on the website, through the week). One of them caught our eye. This one featured the man with the chant that took over Survivor Series weekend- ‘The Perfect 10’ Tye Dillinger.

A dejected Tye Dillinger spoke about how he thought Takeover: Toronto would be his moment, but did not get the job done despite getting a chance to perform on the grand stage.

We believe he will receive the Bayley/Daniel Bryan treatment, where he keeps losing until he gets his big win. He already has the chant working for him. But is ‘ten’ the next ‘hug’ or ‘yes’? Only time will tell...

#1 Asuka’s next challenger unveiled?

Ember Moon seems primed to take on Asuka

It’s fairly certain that NXT won’t keep bringing back stars from the past for Asuka to face. They only did it out of necessity, because of the depleted women’s roster. But Ember Moon is miles ahead of anyone else in the division, and she seems ready to conquer the Empress of Tomorrow for good.

She outshone everyone else in the six woman tag team match, and it seems certain that she’s meant for bigger things than the weak NXT women's mid card. We could be looking at the next NXT women’s champion, in the picture above.
