The Realest Guys in the room did not, surprisingly, score a win.

The Nature Girl and The BossAfter the Beast in The East tour in Japan, NXT wasn’t graced with the presence of the new champion Finn Balor and the former champion Kevin Owens. Owens is officially on the main roster now, The next few weeks or months will see the Demon Overlord carrying the torch in NXT. The women had much to do as the night began with a tag match and an indication of what we could soon experience on the main roster.NXT was a show of a few matches and less eventful than usual. Here are the 5 points to note from this week's NXT-

#1 New Contenders

The Realest Guys in the room did not, surprisingly, score a win.

The main event of NXT this week featured a tag team match. The match had the most over team in NXt right now vs a tag team which hasn’t been booked well at all. Enzo Amore and Colin Cassidy took on The Vaudevillains and guess who won?

Not the most popular team in NXT.

The Vaudevillains won and became the number one contenders for the tag titles.

Creative is building that glory moment much deserved by Amore and Cassidy as something elusive until they finally get it.

And that’s completely fine. The Realest Guys in the Room are legendary on the mic but they have also considerably improved in the ring.

#2 Something like Smackdown

From the ‘Beast in the East’ tour

Smackdown sometimes becomes more of a Raw recap show than a Smackdown show. NXT was something like that this week.

NXT featured a substantial chunk from the Beast in The East tour that featured Finn Balor in his most spectacular painted persona ever and the most celebrated entrance ever. That was relevant given that this is an important event to take place in the history of NXT that did not happen in the usual NXT arena.

This show seemed to be built around it as none of the other matches came near its significance.

#3 The Future and The Past

The Now and the Then

Finn Balor is arguably the face of the NXT brand now that he’s the champion. And his presence and wrestling skills justify that responsibility but he needs tremendous work when it comes to working on a microphone.

Kevin Owens wasn’t just terrific in the ring, he was effective with his mic work as well.

His absence will create some void because there isn’t anyone at the moment who is as great in the ring as on the mic as he was. He’s been a welcome addition on the main roster and there hasn’t been a single wrong move yet.

Fingers crossed.

#4 Updates

The Hugger may be next in line to win the Women’s Championship

Sami Zayn and Bayley are NXT’s resident babyfaces. Two of the most over performers in NXT are out with an injury. Zayn and Bayley both had injury updates but what mattered more was the fact that Bayley is on the verge of returning. Since, Banks is soon going to be on the main roster, all she needs is that one match with Bayley and all Bayley needs is that Sami Zayn-esque moment of glory. Bayley is arguably the woman to takeover from Banks as the face of the Women’s division in NXT.

She and Becky Lynch have a promising feud to look forward to.

#5 The BFFs are back

A Reunion of sorts

What was better than seeing The Boss back in a wrestling ring?

Seeing Sasha Banks and Charlotte team up together.

This could only mean what is becoming all the more clear over the past couple of weeks. Paige needs two performers at least to join her and beat the team of the Bellas and Alicia Fox. What better to make a main roster debut than to have the Boss and Charlotte both walk together. How great will it be to see Paige, Charlotte and Banks together?

They convincingly beat Dana Brooke and Emma.

Now, for the main roster!
