What’s the story?
NXT superstar Roderick Strong is now the father of a baby boy. His partner, MMA fighter Marina Shafir, gave birth to their son at 8:36 pm on April 24th. The two announced that they were expecting a child together way back in October 2016.
In case you didn’t know...
Strong has been in NXT for a few months now. However, he hasn’t made quite the impact that many expected of him. The former ROH standout has mainly been involved in mid card feuds up to this point, last being seen as part of the Sanity vs. Tye Dillinger storyline. With the recent call-ups, however, it seems likely that he’ll be put into a more prominent position going forward.
The heart of the matter
As you can see in the following Instagram post, their baby boy Troy Veniamin Lindsey was born at 8:36 pm on April 24th. The couple has been dating since way back in December 2015, with both experiencing mixed fortunes when it comes to their professional careers since that point.
What’s next?
Strong will likely take some time off to be with his fiancée, however, given that NXT only has tapings every so often it seems unlikely that he’ll miss too much TV time. Shafir will obviously take time away from the fighting business, especially considering how her career has gone over the course of the last few years. Shafir, who was initially tipped to be a star in the UFC, was a part of Ronda Rousey’s Four Horsewomen.
