NXT results 2/4/2015: Number one contender's tournament semifinals

NXT Superstar Finn Balor

Adrian Neville vs Baron Corbin

The semifinals of the number one contender’s tournament kicked off, as Baron Corbin faced-off against Adrian Neville. Neville tried to use his speed and take away the power of Corbin, but that didn't work for long. Corbin hit Neville with a wicked clothesline which slowed the pace and complexion of the match. Corbin would go on to dominate for most of the match until Neville got a small window of opportunity, and dropkicked Corbin outside the ring. While outside the ring Corbin would get assaulted from behind by Bull Dempsey. Dempsey pushed Corbin into the steel post completely taking him out of the match.

Corbin would make it back into the ring before the count of ten, but it wouldn't matter. The attack from behind proved to be too much for Corbin, as Neville was able to hit his finishing move the Red Arrow. Neville became the first man to beat Corbin, and in turn that has given him the right to move on to the finals of the tournament.

Hideo Itami vs Finn Balor

The semifinals of the number one contender’s tournament would continue with Finn Balor vs Hideo Itami.

Itami and Balor gave the NXT fans the match they’ve been wanting to see since their debuts. Itami and Balor gave the NXT Universe another classic match, that can be watched again and again.

Balor and Itami's match was fast paced, and had tons of intensity.

Itami and Balor would go back and forth for the entire match, with both men having their opportunities to win. The NXT crowd was into the entire match, constantly showing their approval and respect for the match.

After surviving a flurry of kicks and strikes from Itami, Balor was able to gain the upper hand. Balor hit Itami with a huge dropkick that threw him into the turnbuckle knocking Itami out. Balor would then climb to the top rope and hit Itami with a double foot stomp, pinning him 1-2-3.

The finals for the number one contender’s tournament at NXT Take Over Rival is now set, as Adrian Neville will take on Finn Balor.

In other results, Bayley defeated Becky Lynch and Carmella defeated Emma.
