What WWE Super Show-Down might create for Hell In A Cell?

The WWE Super Show-Down is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 6 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Melbourne, Australia. It is being advertised as “The Biggest Live Even Ever in Australia”. The event will follow Hell in a Cell which is scheduled to take place on September 16, at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas.

With that said, just like the Greatest Royal Rumble 2018 which was organized in Saudi Arabia, the WWE Super Show-Down is packed with a ton of great matches involving current WWE superstars and legends. However, one feels that releasing the match card before the Hell in a Cell PPV gives away a few spoilers to the fans who follow the storylines closely.

Let us take a look at some of the matches that have been announced for the Super Show-Down, and what they may mean for the Hell in a Cell (The following is based on the writers own opinion and point of view):

#5 WWE Championship - AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe will challenge AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at Hell in a Cell
Samoa Joe will challenge AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at Hell in a Cell

The match will follow the clash between Styles and Joe after the championship match at Hell in a Cell. The two have already fought in a match before at Summerslam 2018, which ended in a disqualification after Styles attacked The Samoan Submission Machine with a chair after he insulted Styles’ wife who was sitting in the crowd at ringside. The disqualification cost Styles the match, but not his title.

The buildup of this rivalry and the weeks of mental attacks by Joe have been A grade. Will ‘The Phenomenal One’ end up finally dropping the WWE Championship after a spectacular record-breaking run with it? This could be the case as Styles could exercise the rematch-clause for the Super Show-Down setting up this match between the two?

#4 Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz

Daniel Bryan will get another chance to beat The Miz

This match was announced on August 21 and it was stated that the winner of this match will become the No. 1 contender for the WWE championship, which is currently held by AJ Styles. Does that mean we are already drifting away from the Samoa Joe and AJ Styles rivalry? That could clearly be the case here.

This match could also mean that the mixed tag-team match between Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella vs. The Miz and Maryse will be won by the former. That seems to be the only scenario where Daniel Bryan will get another chance to get his hands on The Miz, after losing the A-lister on SummerSlam.

#3 Ronda Rousey & The Bella Twins vs. The Riott Squad

This six-women tag match will be a treat to watch

This six-women tag-team match has been set up without any buildup at this time. Only the editions of RAW before the Super Show-Down will tell if a rivalry between the Bella Twins and The Riott Squad develop heading into this match.

The spotlight on Ronda Rousey for this match means that she will get to keep her title against Alexa Bliss, who would be invoking her championship rematch clause at Hell in a Cell. If that wasn’t the case, a match involving Ronda and Alexa would have been announced instead.

#2 John Cena & Bobby Lashley vs. Kevin Owens & Elias:

Can this help elevate Elias and Lashley's feud?
Can this help elevate Elias and Lashley's feud?

After the Greatest Royal Rumble, the free-agent will be back to help ticket and merchandise sales in Australia! He’ll team up with Bobby Lashley, who seems to be in the black books of the WWE creatives.

The spoiler here is Kevin Owens. The Canadian-born superstar quit on last week’s RAW, but is coming back very soon, it seems. Does this mean that all speculations that KO will be off TV for the rest of 2018 can be put to rest, and he’ll be back in no time after a short vacation? It’s possible that KO won't feature in the match and Elias will need to find another partner to replace him.

Elias pairing up with KO means that Bobby Lashley and Elias will continue to be involved in altercations and bouts every now and then till the creatives figure out what to do with the two men.

#1 The Shield vs. Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre

Strowman turning heel was unexpected
Strowman turning heel was unexpected

Braun Strowman seems to have found new friends in Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre after turning heel last week on RAW. The three will team up to take on The Shield at the WWE Show-Down.

There are a few things that can be assumed from this booking. Firstly, it seems like Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins along with Ziggler and McIntyre will be involved in some way or the other in the Universal Championship match between Reigns and Strowman at Hell in a Cell. That could be one of the reasons this match will be set up in the first place.

It also seems like Roman Reigns will retain his title at Hell in a Cell. This seems likely since Vince wouldn’t want Roman to give up the title so soon after putting the Big Dog on top. Another reason to think this is because if Strowman was to win the championship, a rematch would have followed on the WWE Super Show-Down instead of a six-man tag team match.
