The winner of this match will challenge for the Cruiserweight Championship.

Last week on 205 Live, Drake Maverick announced that there would be an eight-man tournament to determine who will become the number one contender to the Cruiserweight Championship and will face Buddy Murphy for the Cruiserweight Championship at WrestleMania 35. Two first round matches have already been announced for this week's edition of 205 Live on Tuesday Night.

One of those matches will see the Premier Athlete Tony Nese who is fresh off a victory against Noam Dar face off with the Dominion of Dynamo Kalisto who also got a big victory over Mike Kanellis. Another one of those matches will see is between two old rivals and former teammates in Drew Gulak and the Brian Kendrick. There are four remaining participants left in this tournament meaning that there are two remaining first-round matches left in the tournament.

#4: Humberto Carillo

Humberto Carillio is 205 Live's newest arrival.
Humberto Carillio is 205 Live's newest arrival.

Humberto Carillo has made quite the waves since arriving to 205 Live. He made his debut by challenging Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy in an open challenge in a non-title match on an episode of 205 Live. The two had a pretty good match that ended with Buddy Murphy getting the victory. However, 205 Live's Best Kept Secret had to resort to questionable tactics as he feigned an injury to gain the victory.

Since then Humberto Carillo has been gaining a lot of momentum on 205 Live. He has defeated both TJP and Gran Metalik and also seems to be getting involved in an angle with Drew Gulak and Gentleman Jack Gallagher.

He also lasted to the quarterfinals of the inaugural Worlds Collide Tournament. He defeated one half of the NXT UK Tag Team Champions in Zack Gibson in the first round before being defeated by the winner of the tournament in the Velveteen Dream.

The victories that Humberto Carillo has picked up over established superstars in 205 Live (the two finalists of the Cruiserweight Classic in Gran Metalik and TJP) make him an obvious (and welcome) addition to this tournament.

#3: Ariya Daivari

The Persian Lion only made his return a few months ago.
The Persian Lion only made his return a few months ago.

Ariya Daivari made his return by forming a team with Hideo Itami and attacking a defenceless local competitor. He performed his role as Hideo Itami's manager and tag team partner well as he helped him gain victories over both Noam Dar and Cedric Alexander. He would later turn on his partner and friend Hideo Itami by hitting him with his finishing move the Hammerlock Lariat. The Persian Lion has completely brutalized several local competitors in matches allowing him to gain a pretty impressive winning streak.

His winning streak and a newfound sense of aggressiveness make him an obvious addition to this tournament. However, since his return, he has not been able to test his skills against any active competitors of 205 Live. Matches with the best of 205 Live will allow him to prove his skills in the ring while also bringing him close to the Cruiserweight Championship.

#2: Gentleman Jack Gallagher

Gentleman Jack Gallagher and Drew Gulak should both be in this tournament.
Gentleman Jack Gallagher and Drew Gulak should both be in this tournament.

For the past few months, Gentleman Jack Gallagher has been presented as nothing more than Drew Gulak's sidekick. However, he is an immensely talented competitor (like all of the superstars on 205 Live) and deserves to be given the opportunity to challenge for the Cruiserweight Championship at WrestleMania.

He recently acquired a clean victory over Lince Dorado through his technical wrestling skills. Because Drake Maverick seems to be rewarding those who have recently acquired victories on 205 Live, he obviously should be in this match. This tournament also needs one more heel to even it out and the only other available heel is Mike Kanellis who has been going through an immense losing streak.

Because Gentleman Jack Gallagher has gained an impressive win over the Lucha Houseparty and is frankly the only available heel that is credible, he is a shoo-in for this tournament.

#1: Cedric Alexander

Cedric Alexander was once Cruiserweight Champion.
Cedric Alexander was once Cruiserweight Champion.

Cedric Alexander is arguably the biggest face on the 205 Live roster. Last year, he outlasted the likes of Gran Metalik, TJP, and Roderick Strong, before defeating Mustafa Ali to win the Cruiserweight Championship at WrestleMania 34.

He was a dominant superstar who successfully defeated Kalisto, Buddy Murphy, Hideo Itami, and Drew Gulak to retain the Cruiserweight Championship before losing it to Buddy Murphy at the Super Showdown.

While he has failed to win the Cruiserweight Championship back, he has still been dominant as he defeated Tony Nese, Lio Rush, TJP, Mike Kanellis, and even pinned Buddy Murphy in tag team action.

Cedric Alexander's accomplishments in 2018 alone justify his inclusion in this tournament. He is the biggest name that they would have in this tournament and as a result of that, he should be a part of it. Whoever defeats him (preferably in the finals) would also have a rub heading into the biggest match of their career.
