Eddie Guerrero Vs. Andrade "Cien" Almas

Who really brings the Latino Heat? Eddie Guerrero or Andrade Almas?
Who really brings the Latino Heat? Eddie Guerrero or Andrade Almas?

It's the well-rounded Eddie Guerrero taking on the high flying elitist Andrade Almas in this hard hitting, fast paced matchup featuring two of the biggest stars in Mexican wrestling history.

The Match: The opening guitar strains of Andrade Almas's theme music hit the PA system, and he makes his way out into the open with Zelina Vega. Vega applauds with a smug, disdainful expression on her pretty face while Almas poses for the crowd. They make their way to the ring and spend some time going over strategy.

Then Eddie's theme song hits, and the crowd roars with approval. Beaming a wide smile, Eddie comes out to tremendous applause, shaking his hips and appealing to his many fans. He slaps hands with fans on the way to the ring, and takes time to pose with a fan who hand drew his likeness on a giant piece of poster board.

Andrade shakes his head in disgust at the way Eddie panders to the fans at ringside as Eddie takes a long time to get in the ring. The referee calls for the bell, and the two men stand a few feet apart facing each other. Eddie offers a handshake, a big smile on his face, but Almas slaps the hand away. He points a finger in Eddie's chest and trash talks him. Eddie never stops smiling, but he turns to wink at the crowd before slapping Andrade right across the face. Incensed, Almas charges after Eddie, who takes shelter in the ropes. The referee impedes Almas, not allowing him to attack Eddie because he's in the ropes. Eddie waves merrily at Almas, smiling widely.

Andrade is finally backed away by the referee, and Eddie comes fully back into the ring. The two men lock up and Andrade puts Eddie in an arm bar. Guerrero struggles in Almas's grip as the referee asks if he wants to give up. Eddie quickly someraults, flips onto his side, and comes up to his feet, reversing the pressure and arm dragging Almas to the mat. He holds Almas in an arm bar of his own as Zelina Vega pounds the mat angrily at ringside.

Almas gets to his feet and backs Eddie into the ropes. The referee calls for the break, which Eddie gives cleanly, but Almas takes advantage and strikes Guerrero when he is looking at the referee. While the ref gives Almas a hard time about the sneaky blow, he attacks Eddie with punches and kicks, eventually backing him across the ring. Almas irish whips Eddie and goes for a clothesline, but Eddie ducks under it. Almas goes for another clotheline, but Eddie reverses it into a swinging DDT.

The crowd cheers wildly as Eddie goes for the pinfall. One...two...Almas kicks out early at two. Eddie drags Almas over near the edge of the ring and heads outside the ropes to stand on the apron. He delivers his rolling shoulder attack to Almas to a big pop from the crowd. Eddie covers Almas, but again fails to get a three count.

Eddie irish whips Almas into the ropes. This time it's Almas's turn to duck a clothesline. Almas dashes across the ring, springs off the middle rope, and catches Eddie with a picture perfect springboard moonsault. Both men crash to the mat but Almas gets to one knee and confers with Vega while Eddie writhes in pain.

Almas drives a few knees into Eddie's sternum before ascending to the top rope. He dives off with a moonsault but Eddie rolls out of the way. Almas lands amazingly on his feet, then pitches into a standing moonsault and hits Eddie with it. The referee counts one...two...Eddie kicks out at two and a half.

Frustrated, Almas picks up Eddie by the hair, angrily shouting at the fans to shut up as they chant Eddie's name in a singsong fashion. Almas sets Eddie up and delivers his inverted facelock backbreaker, instantly following it up with a spinning elbow drop. The ref counts, but again Eddie kicks out at two.

Almas climbs outside of the ring and stands on the apron as Eddie struggles to his feet. Andrade springs off the top rope and attempts to his a dragonrana, but Eddie counters with a stiff powerbomb. Both men fall to the mat, and the crowd goes wild. They chant Eddie's name, imploring him to rise and do battle once more.

The two combatants struggle to their feet and trade punches. Eddie gets the better of the exchange and backs Almas into a corner. Eddie runs across the ring for momentum, but when he bounces off the ropes Zelina Vega grabs his leg. Eddie collapses face first on the mat, allowing Andrade time to roll out of the ring to safety.

Eddie stands up in a rage while the referee begins the ten count, his focus entirely on Andrade. Guerrero rolls out of the ring and confronts Vega. The fiery Latina doesn't back up an inch until Eddie snatches a folding chair. Vega puts her hands up defensively, only for Eddie to slam the chair on the floor and then toss it gently into her waiting grip. He then falls to the arena floor and holds his head as if in pain.

The referee hears the chair shot and turns around to find Eddie writhing on the floor and Vega holding the chair. He rolls out of the ring and confronts Vega, his back to Eddie. While an enraged and frustrated Vega claims innocence, Eddie rises up enough to tauntingly wave at the Latina manager. When Vega points out Eddie's miraculous recovery, the ref turns around only to find Guerrero playing possum again. The angry referee forces Vega to leave ringside and return to the locker room.

Andrade, however, takes advantage of the distraction. As Eddie climbs to his feet, Andrade runs across the ring and spins into a corkscrew plancha. He crashes into Eddie and the two men end up gasping for air on the arena floor.

The referee begins counting out both men. Almas recovers at six and rolls into the ring, but Eddie is still stunned. As the crowd grows louder and louder, he struggles to his feet and slides into the ring just before the referee counts ten.

Almas, feeling cocky, jaws at Eddie as he lifts him by the hair to his feet. He lifts Guerrero to his shoulders and prepares for a rolling fireman's carry slam to set up his split legged corkscrew senton finisher. Eddie manages to slip out of his grip and pushes Almas chest first into the turnbuckle. Almas turns around, holding his chest, and Guerrero doubles him over with a swift kick to the midsection. Eddie hooks in a front face lock and then lifts Almas into a vertical suplex. Holding on, Eddie does the Three Amigos, driving Almas harder with each consecutive suplex.

Eddie climbs to the turnbuckle and shakes his hips Latino Heat style. Then he dives off the ropes with a tremendous frog splash, flattening Almas beneath his body. The referee counts one...two...three!

Winner: Eddie Guerrero

Analysis: Both men were evenly matched in both athleticism and technical ability, but Eddie's clever elimination of Zelina Vega leads to victory.
