What’s the story?

Former Impact Wrestling star Magnus aka Nick Aldis has emerged as the new NWA World Heavyweight Champion.

Aldis defeated Tim Storm at a CZW (Combat Zone Wrestling) event over the weekend to win the NWA World Heavyweight title.

In case you didn’t know…

Nick Aldis is perhaps best known for his time in Impact Wrestling as Magnus.

The 31-year-old Englishman has previously held the GFW Global Championship, TNA World Heavyweight title and is also a former IWGP Tag Team Champ, to list a few of his accolades.

The heart of the matter

Nick Aldis competed at a CZW (Combat Zone Wrestling) show this past Saturday, going toe-to-toe with Tim Storm.

The event that took place in Sewell, New Jersey on December 9th saw a new NWA World Heavyweight Champion crowned, as Nick Aldis beat Tim Storm for the prestigious belt.

Furthermore, despite having pitched to work on a night-to-night, independent contractor basis for Impact Wrestling, Aldis aka Magnus was let go from the promotion; following which he’s been focusing a considerable amount of time on the NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) and other ventures in the independent professional wrestling circuit.

What’s next?

Fans can expect Nick Aldis to continue performing primarily for NWA, among other organizations, in the immediate future.

Besides, multiple professional wrestling experts believe that Aldis may be headed to the WWE sooner rather than later, joining his wife Mickie James in the world’s premier pro-wrestling company.

Author’s take

Nick Aldis is perhaps one of the NWA’s best World Heavyweight Champions in recent history. He’s athletic, composed, charismatic and in his prime.

Nevertheless, with that being said, Aldis would most definitely have his talents utilized better in the WWE rather than the opportunities he’s being accorded in the indies.

Do you feel Aldis would benefit by staying in the indies or should he head to WWE? Sound off in the comments.
