Con #3: The Universal Title loses its chance to gain credibility as a World Title
How cursed is the Universal Title. The first ever champion was injured before his reign started, the second champion had a fairly lackluster reign, being overshadowed by a piece of paper, the third was a coming-out-of-retirement dad in his 50's, who was basically a transitional champion, and finally, the current champion.
Even before it is established properly as a world title, the Universal Championship is on a hiatus courtesy Mr. Mayor of Suplex City.
The Universal Champion fighting for UFC is just not the same as the WWE Champion fighting for UFC.
Just imagine if Brock showed up with the historical WWE Championship at the UFC. It would have been a killer storyline of Brock holding up the most prestigious title hostage. But since it is just the 2-year-old Universal Championship, it is not as big of a deal.
