Randy Orton confronted Gunther last week on WWE RAW to issue a challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship at Bash in Berlin. Now that the match is made official, The Viper could send a threat tonight through The Ring General's trusted partner.
At the 2024 SummerSlam, Gunther defeated Damian Priest to become the new World Heavyweight Champion. He celebrated the major win on the following WWE RAW episode, where he was greeted by his King of the Ring final opponent Randy Orton. It didn't take long for a title match to be made. Tonight, The Viper could show the champion why he remains one of the top stars in the Stamford-based promotion through Ludwig Kaiser.
For the upcoming Monday Night RAW episode, Gunther could tell fans that he is not afraid of The Viper and unlike most of Orton's opponents, The Ring General would never be caught with an RKO out of nowhere. However, Randy could somewhat prove him wrong by delivering the finisher to Ludwig Kaiser instead.
In this way, the World Heavyweight Champion doesn't have to risk his legitimacy by taking the RKO but at the same time, The Viper will be able to prove that he is a worthy challenger for the gold.
What does Gunther think of Randy Orton after they battled in the 2024 WWE King of the Ring tournament?
In May 2024, The Ring General and The Viper faced each other in the final round of the King of the Ring tournament. The finish of their match ended in controversy after the referee counted to three to hand Gunther the win despite Orton having one of his shoulders up. Despite this, the champion has fond memories of sharing the ring with Randy.
In an interview with Title Sports Network, the World Heavyweight Champion shared his admiration for sharing the ring with somebody of The Viper's legacy and caliber. Gunther added that he was proud of surviving two RKOs and becoming the tournament's winner.
"I mean, it's been an absolute pleasure to be in the ring with somebody like Randy Orton. I think his resume speaks for itself and makes me very proud of myself to be able to overcome Randy Orton. I survived two RKOs basically and go out there and became King of the Ring," he said.
It remains to be seen who will walk out as the World Heavyweight Champion at Bash in Berlin.
