After his recent return to WWE programming during WrestleMania season, it would appear that Shane McMahon is once again set to compete on the grandest stage of them all.

Shane O'Mac has been involved in an ongoing storyline with Braun Strowman on Monday Night RAW in recent weeks. This has therefore led many to assume that we will see a match of some sort between "The Monster Among Men" and Shane McMahon on either night of WrestleMania 37 in April.

However, this wouldn't be the first match for the former SmackDown commissioner at WrestleMania. Shane McMahon has competed in 6 matches at WrestleMania as an active in-ring performer.

While some matches have certainly been better than others, let's take a closer look at Shane McMahon's 5 best WrestleMania matches in WWE history.

#5 Shane McMahon vs The Miz - Falls Count Anywhere Match (WWE WrestleMania 35)

Shane McMahon's storyline and rivalry with The Miz in 2018 and 2019 was certainly a strange one.

Shane O'Mac flirted with a possible heel turn in 2018 when he inserted himself into the finals of WWE World Cup Tournament to crown the "Best in the World," replacing The Miz and defeating Dolph Ziggler.

After The Miz then pursued Shane McMahon to become a tag team, the SmackDown Commissioner finally acquiesced and the newly formed tag team captured the SmackDown Tag Team Championships at the Royal Rumble in 2019.

Their title reign was shortlived, however, as The Miz and Shane McMahon lost their WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships the following month at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view against The Usos. Shane McMahon attacked The Miz after the match and taunted The Miz's father at ringside, turning heel for the first time since 2009.

This then led to a Falls Count Anywhere Match at WrestleMania 35. Despite the odd storyline, the match at WrestleMania provided an interesting addition to the card. Shane O'Mac and his former tag team partner brawled all over MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Arguably the most memorable moment of the match saw The Miz's father, George Mizanin, confront Shane McMahon and square up to the SmackDown Commissioner, an image that is still discussed to this very day on social media.

After brawling in the stands at MetLife Stadium, The Miz superplexed Shane McMahon off of a 15-foot platform in spectacular fashion. However, Shane McMahon landed on top of The Miz in the process and gained a three count for the victory.

The match itself was nothing in particular to write home about. But due to the iconic image of George Mizanin squaring up to Shane McMahon, it narrowly gets into Shane McMahon's top 5 WWE WrestleMania matches.

#4 Shane McMahon vs The Undertaker - Hell In A Cell Match (WWE WrestleMania 32)

After 7 years away from WWE, Shane McMahon made his shocking return to the company in 2016. Interrupting his father, who was awarding the Vincent J. McMahon Legacy of Excellence Award to his sister Stephanie, Shane McMahon informed Vince McMahon that he wanted control of RAW. Implying that he had some dirt in a "lock box" on the WWE Chairman, Mr. McMahon agreed to Shane's demands, but only if Shane O'Mac could defeat The Undertaker at WrestleMania in a Hell In A Cell match.

It was also later revealed that if The Undertaker lost the match at WrestleMania, "The Deadman" would not be allowed to compete at another WrestleMania event.

If you think this storyline seems convoluted and overly confusing, then you're not alone. Going into WrestleMania, many were critical of the Shane McMahon, Vince McMahon and the Undertaker story as there were a multitude of plotholes and a real lack of logic in the storyline.

Nevertheless, the Hell In A Cell match between The Undertaker and Shane McMahon was certainly a spectacle. Lasting over 30 minutes, the match was the longest on the card and featured an incredible WWE WrestleMania moment as Shane McMahon attempted a leap of faith elbow drop from the top of the cell but crashed through an announce table as The Undertaker rolled out of the way.

Soon after, The Deadman defeated Shane McMahon after hitting a tombstone in the middle of the ring. Despite the match lasting an unnecessary length and the strange, non-sensicle storyline, the match will always be remembered for Shane McMahon's death defying leap off the Hell in a Cell structure. A true WWE WrestleMania moment.

#3 Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan vs Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens (WWE WrestleMania 34)

After returning to WWE in 2016, Shane McMahon was announced as the Commissioner of SmackDown during the 2016 WWE Brand Extension. One of Shane O'Mac's first rulings as SmackDown Commissioner was to announce that Daniel Bryan would be SmackDown's new General Manager.

Daniel Bryan was forced into an in-ring retirement in February 2016 due to a series of concussion-related injuries. Fast forward two years and the SmackDown General Manager was miraculously medically cleared to compete inside a WWE ring once again. As part of an ongoing storyline on SmackDown, the Commissioner and General Manager of the blue brand would team up to face two SmackDown superstars in Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn at WrestleMania.

Owens and Zayn feuded with Shane McMahon and eventually attacked both Shane O'Mac and Daniel Bryan during episodes of SmackDown.

This led to Daniel Bryan making his first in-ring appearance in close to 3 years at the SuperDome during WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans. Ironically, this was the location of Daniel Bryan's greatest victory four years prior at WrestleMania XXX when he defeated Triple H, Randy Orton and Batista in the same night to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

The match itself lasted over 15 minutes and mainly served as a celebration of Daniel Bryan's miraculous return to in-ring competition - something which was previously thought of as an impossibility. Despite being attacked from behind by Owens and Zayn to begin the match, Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan were able to overcome their rivals and win the match after Daniel Bryan forced Sami Zayn to submit to the YES! Lock.

#2 Shane McMahon vs AJ Styles (WWE WrestleMania 33)

To say that Shane McMahon vs AJ Styles exceeded the WWE Universe's expectations at WrestleMania 33 would be an understatement. Everyone knows the ability and quality of AJ Styles as an in-ring performer, he's one of the best professional wrestlers in the world and arguably one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time.

Heading into WrestleMania, the storyline between AJ Styles and Shane McMahon was "The Phenomenal One" being frustrated with WWE management, specifically the SmackDown Commissioner. This led to Styles challenging Shane McMahon to a match at WrestleMania. However, this wasn't going to be like any regular Shane O'Mac match which usually features gimmicks and weapons. This was going to be a traditional wrestling match.

Given Shane McMahon's limited ability when it comes to technical wrestling, many didn't hold out much hope for a WWE WrestleMania classic.

However, the critics were pleasantly surprised when AJ Styles and Shane McMahon arguably stole the show with the match of the night at WrestleMania 33. Starting off the main card, McMahon and Styles' regular professional wrestling match quickly turned into chaos when, due to a referee bump, weapons such as a trash can became involved.

The red-hot WrestleMania crowd ate up everything that AJ Styles and Shane McMahon had to offer. This included Shane O'Mac's trademark elbow drop through the announce table and an attempted shooting star press. Unfortunately for Shane, he missed Styles on both occasions.

AJ Styles eventually got the victory after hitting Shane McMahon with a Phenomenal Forearm for the pinfall. The match was far better than many had imagined it would be, and it is no doubt one of Shane McMahon's best WWE WrestleMania performances.

#1 Shane McMahon vs Mr. McMahon - Street Fight (WWE WrestleMania X-Seven)

Ironically, Shane McMahon's greatest WWE WrestleMania match came against his own father at WrestleMania X-Seven in 2001.

The storyline heading into the match involved Mr. McMahon's outlandish behavior becoming more and more outrageous and damaging to the McMahon family. The McMahon patriarch had begun a romantic affair with Trish Stratus and caused his own wife, Linda McMahon, to have a nervous breakdown and be confined to a wheelchair. The prodigal son, Shane, eventually had enough of his father's antics which led to a brutal street fight at WrestleMania.

However, in the midst of this McMahon vs McMahon storyline, WWE acquired their main rival, World Championship Wrestling. During the historic WWE Monday Night RAW and WCW Monday Nitro simulcast, it was revealed that Shane McMahon had "purchased" WCW. Therefore, at WrestleMania it would be the owner of WWE vs the owner of WCW.

Far from a technical classic, the McMahon vs McMahon street fight had everything that you would expect. Weapons, violence, blood, drama, the entire McMahon family getting involved and Mick Foley as the special guest referee.

The match even included a WrestleMania moment where Linda McMahon, after months of being confined to a wheelchair and showing no emotion, rose out of the chair and kicked her cheating husband Vince in the groin.

Shane eventually defeated his father in a match that was special for so many reasons and featured WrestleMania moment after WrestleMania moment.
