From the WWE Rumor Mill: Reason behind Braun Strowman vs. The Bar
What’s the story?
Apparently, the idea of booking Strowman in a WrestleMania feud against The Bar was on the table for quite some time in WWE, with the promotion finally going forward with it this week.
In case you didn’t know…
As we’d previously reported, courtesy PWInsider, the WWE planned on having a Tag Team which is currently not a Team to challenge The Bar (Sheamus & Cesaro) for their RAW Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 34.
On this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, The Monster Among Men participated in a Tag Team Battle Royal—a match in which he emerged victorious after all members of several other Tag Teams were thrown over the top rope, thereby making Strowman the No.1 contender for the RAW Tag Team titles.
The heart of the matter
Veteran professional wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer explained that as of this time, it’s unknown as to whether Strowman has a Tag Team partner or not.
Meltzer added that Vince McMahon may or may not have decided as to whether Strowman needs a partner, besides, even if McMahon may have made his decision, he probably hasn’t revealed it to anyone yet.
Furthermore, Meltzer elucidated that given how the entire storyline is still up in the air, the WWE chose to let the Strowman vs. The Bar angle play out the way it has—refraining from booking both The Monster Among Men as well as The Bar in a WrestleMania feud until this week’s RAW.
Meltzer added that the WWE planned on having Strowman challenge The Bar for quite some time now, however, since it wasn’t a definite, Strowman wasn’t linked to Sheamus & Cesaro before the storyline being sprung upon the fans this week.
Strowman is set to challenge The Bar for their RAW Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 34 which takes place at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana on April 8th.
It’ll be intriguing to see if the WWE higher-ups truly go forward with Strowman facing The Bar in a Handicap Match for the RAW Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania.
However, the WWE could swerve the fans, and potentially pair a returning Superstar with Strowman, and then have the duo compete against Sheamus & Cesaro on The Grandest Stage Of Them All.
