ROH News: Cody Rhodes accepts Dave Meltzer's challenge to sell out an ROH show with 10,000 fans

Cody Rhodes has made quite the mark on the indie scene since leaving WWE

What’s the story?

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer was recently asked on Twitter if Ring Of Honor would ever sell out an arena such as Madison Square Garden with over 10,000 fans. Meltzer would give the following simple and concise answer:

In case you didn’t know...

Rhodes has had an impressive 12-month run in professional wrestling as he’s competed in some of the biggest events. Since April 2016, Cody has taken part in WrestleMania, The Battle Of Los Angeles, ROH Final Battle and New Japan’s Wrestle Kingdom.

The heart of the matter

Cody Rhodes would then respond to Meltzer with a tweet of his own accepting the challenge. All he asks for is his Bullet Club buddies in the Young Bucks and three months to promote. Take a look at Cody’s tweet below:

Rhodes believes that the Bullet Club’s popularity could easily sell out a large arena. Twitter user @RobTheIc0n would respond with a trump card that could sell out an arena of that size:

What’s next?

Wrestling fans can watch Cody in the upcoming editions of Ring Of Honor’s weekly television show taped after War Of The Worlds pay per view last weekend. It was also announced that Cody will take part in New Japan’s G1 Climax Tournament that starts in July.

Author’s take

As great as Ring Of Honor, Cody Rhodes, and the Young Bucks are, I think it would be tough to pull off a show of that size. First off, ROH must agree to fund and run a show of that size, then comes creating an event that 10,000 people would want to come see.

I would love to see it happen and have Cody prove Meltzer wrong, but it is an uphill battle.
