ROH News: Ring Of Honor World Champion Dalton Castle discusses going to the WWE

"The Party Peacock" is truly a fan favorite in Ring Of Honor...

What's the story?

Wrestling Inc. is reporting on a recent interview that Ring Of Honor World Champion Dalton Castle had with frequent WWE Kickoff Show contributor Sam Roberts on his podcast. During the interview, they talked about a few different subjects including if Castle would like to go to the WWE.

In case you didn't know...

Castle began his pro wrestling career in 2008 wrestling primarily in New York for various independent promotions. His big breaks came in 2013 when he would start working with Chikara and Ring Of Honor.

The heart of the matter

When it comes to following wrestlers such as Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly, Bobby Fish, Roderick Strong, and War Machine to the WWE, Castle believes that now is not the time. At the age of 31, he is entering the prime of his career and right now his goal is to continue to build Ring Of Honor.

Castle would further expand on those thoughts on his quote below:

"I don't think that is my next step at this moment, I just won the title and to think that far down the road. First thing is that I have another year left with Ring of Honor guaranteed so to think past that would be unfair for the company that I work for and unfair to the effort I am putting on now."

Castle started with Ring Of Honor in 2013 but wasn't heavily used until the 2015 Top Prospect Tournament. His unique persona and extravagant entrance won over the fans of Ring Of Honor instantly, but he wouldn't win his first belt until June 2017 when Castle and The Boys won the ROH Six Man Tag Team Championships.

What's next?

Castle's first ROH World Heavyweight Championship defense takes place this Saturday in Nashville, Tennessee for their television tapings. He'll take on 2016 Top Prospect Tournament competitor Punishment Martinez.

Author's take

I absolutely love everything about Dalton Castle. I had the opportunity to meet him during WrestleMania weekend in Dallas two years ago, and he was great to talk to.

While it won't be anytime soon, I fully expect him to make the jump to NXT within the next couple of years, and the NXT Universe is going to absolutely LOVE him.
