Kenny Omega is set to make his return to ROH in 2018 at Supercard of Honor XII

What’s the story?

Earlier today Ring of Honor announced on their official Twitter handle that IWGP US Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega has been signed for next year’s Supercard of Honor event and will appear in New Orleans.

In case you didn’t know…

ROH’s Supercard of Honor is one of the biggest yearly events in Ring of Honor history. The event mostly takes place during WWE’s annual Wrestlemania PPV in the month of March or April.

Over the years several New Japan Pro Wrestling stars are known to appear in the Supercard of Honor event, thanks to ROH’s relationship with NJPW.

Earlier this year fans got the chance to witness the likes of Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa, Dragon Lee and even The Hardy Boyz make their appearances on this year’s show.

The heart of the matter

As announced by Ring of Honor earlier today, Kenny Omega is once again set to make his return to the company in 2018 as part of ROH: Supercard of Honor.

With the announcement, Omega became the second NJPW wrestler to be confirmed for the show, after ROH announced that IWGP Intercontinental Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi is also going to be appearing on the show.

The show is all set to take place at the UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans and with the announcements of Omega and Tanahashi, chances are likely that ROH will be doing great numbers in terms of attendance. Ring of Honor’s prime target right now would be to break this year’s Supercard of Honor attendance record of 3,500 which they managed to draw at Lakeland, Florida.

What’s next?

With the announcements of both the IWGP US and Intercontinental Champion, it is likely that more NJPW talent is likely to be booked for the show.

Kenny Omega also recently appeared on ROH’s Global Wars tour and defended his US Title against Yoshi-Hashi on night four in Chicago.

However, it has not been announced yet whether the Bullet Club leader will once again defend his US Title or not but chances are likely that he will so that ROH manages to break this year’s record of 3,500.

As for right now, Omega returns to NJPW and will be featuring in the company’s upcoming Power Struggle event set to take place on November 5, 2017.

Author’s Take

Personally, I like the idea of ROH booking the likes of Tanahashi and Omega for their Supercard of Honor show and I believe that it is likely that they will manage to break their attendance record from this year’s event.
