Royal Rumble 2019: 4 biggest questions from the PPV

The #30 Men's spot could have been taken by a call-up or a legend

The roof of Chase Field almost blew off as fans cheered for the two favourites who they hoped would win the Royal Rumble matches. WWE gave the Universe what is wanted and crowned Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins the winners of their respective Royal Rumble matches.

On the other hand, some fan-favourites did not make it out of the event as champions and broke the hearts of their fans. This could, however, be the beginning of something new.

Royal Rumble was definitely short of surprises this year, and many predictable outcomes were topped with many predictable Royal Rumble match entrants.

After the event, we were left seeking the answers to a few questions which left us puzzled. Check out the 4 biggest questions that we have from the pay-per-view, and share so questions that you are left within the comments below!

#4 Why were there such few surprise entrants?

Jeff Jarrett was one of the only surprises for the event
Jeff Jarrett was one of the only surprises for the event

Royal Rumbles are one place where we get to watch superstars from every walk of life compete in the ring together. This allows the WWE Universe to feel nostalgic and cheer for their childhood heroes for some time.

However, this Royal Rumble did not allow the WWE Universe to do that much. Except for Jeff Jarrett and Kurt Angle, there were no other legends of the sport in either of the matches. That means the women’s match was completely deprived of some legendary star power.

While Lita, Trish Stratus, Kelly Kelly and others made their mark in 2018, they weren’t seen this year around.

Sadly, there were also no surprise returns in this year’s matches. While fans were expecting to see the returns of Bray Wyatt, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, and many other superstars, the same wasn’t the case and did disappoint quite a few fans.

#3 Is Becky Lynch a heel or a face?

Finlay gave the green signal to Lynch to enter the match
Finlay gave the green signal to Lynch to enter the match

When the SmackDown Women’s Championship match begun, it was obvious that Becky Lynch was the heel in the battle while the reigning champion Asuka was the face.

Things did not change throughout the match, and the two competed under their assigned characters.

However, when Lana couldn’t enter the Royal Rumble match, Becky Lynch came out and pleaded WWE Producer Fit Finlay to let her take Lana’s place. Even though Lynch could have entered the match herself, she took the route a face would have taken to get a chance in the match.

On the other hand, a heel like Nia Jax first worsened Lana’s injury while entering the match, and then took R-Truth’s place in the men’s match after attacking the veteran superstar while staying true to her villainous character.

Lynch fought in the Royal Rumble against Charlotte and Nia Jax, both of whom are heels, and therefore it made little sense for three heels to be the last three in the match. Was Lynch a face during the Women’s Royal Rumble match?

#2 Why weren’t the NXT call-ups in the men’s Royal Rumble?

While Gargano made his mark in the match, EC3 was nowhere to be seen
While Gargano made his mark in the match, EC3 was nowhere to be seen

One of the biggest questions on everyone’s minds is that why the NXT call-ups did not make it to the men’s Royal Rumble match.

While the women’s match had both the newcomers Lacey Evans and Nikki Cross compete in the match, the men’s match did not.newcomers

All four men, namely EC3, Lars Sullivan, and the two members of Heavy Machinery, were nowhere to be seen during the event.

This was an odd call as the Royal Rumble was the perfect place to debut EC3 and Lars while also utilize Heavy Machinery.

Fans were definitely anticipating one of the four superstars to come out, but the same wasn’t the case throughout the event.

Lars and EC3 could have surely gotten a bigger pop than men like Titus O’Neil, Curt Hawkins, and No Way Jose.

#1 Will the Demon get a shot at the Universal Championship?

Will the Demon return to Raw to ask for a rematch?
Will the Demon return to Raw to ask for a rematch?

The Extraordinary Man proved his worth once again at the Royal Rumble as he came face to face with The Beast.

The story of David vs Goliath was rewritten as Balor grabbed the opportunity he’d been given with both hands and held it for as long as he could become Lesnar tried to rip one of his arms off.

The result was a close call where Balor gave Lesnar a beating of a lifetime and came inches close to a victory but couldn’t pull it off.

What The Extraordinary Man can do, The Demon King can surely do better. After all, it was the Demon who won the inaugural Universal Championship and also beat Baron Corbin in seconds at SummerSlam.

Is WWE saving the best for last, as Balor could plead Vince for another shot at the title? Samoa Joe, Shinsuke Nakamura, Roman Reigns, and Braun Strowman all got multiple shots at the top titles last year, and Balor may get one more chance too at The Demon King.
