Former champion will not compete in WWE for the rest of the year - Reports

Current WWE Superstar is set to miss 6 to 9 months of in-ring action.
Many WWE stars are currently sidelined from active competition

After recently tearing her ACL during a title match on SmackDown, it seems that WWE star Dakota Kai will be out of action for a long time.

Kai last competed in the ring on the May 12, 2023, edition of SmackDown. She and Bayley lost a Women's Tag Team Championship match against the team of Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez.

Earlier today, Dave Meltzer reported on the Wrestling Observer Radio that Kai will undergo surgery and be away from the ring for at least six months. This could sideline the former WWE Women's Tag Team Champion from active competition for the rest of 2023.

"Dakota Kai, I believe, is having surgery tomorrow for a torn ACL. So that’s probably six to nine months out, so best wishes to her." [H/T Ringside News]

After being released by the company in April 2022, Kai returned to WWE at SummerSlam 2022 as she joined forces with Bayley and IYO SKY to form Damage CTRL.

WWE is set to crown new Women's Tag Team Champions

Besides Dakota Kai, another integral member of the women's roster that is currently on the shelf is Liv Morgan.

Raquel Rodriguez and Morgan were forced to relinquish the Women's Tag Team Championship last week due to the latter's injury. The company later announced that four teams will now face off on the May 29 edition of Monday Night RAW to crown the new champions.

In Liv's absence, Raquel Rodriguez will join forces with Shotzi to face the teams of Bayley & IYO SKY, Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler, and Sonya Deville & Chelsea Green. Fans must wait and see which duo will reign supreme on RAW after Night of Champions.
