Detroit won't be the host of WrestleMania 35

What's the story?

Recent reports surfaced suggesting that the venue for WrestleMania 35 was all-but confirmed, with the three most likely cities being New York City, Philadelphia and Detroit. The latter city was the hot favourite, but now new details have emerged suggesting that Detroit will not be the venue of WrestleMania 35.

In case you didn't know...

Two fairly reputable Twitter sources of information regarding WWE venues tweeted recently, stirring up speculation about the location of WrestleMania 35. The first stated that the announcement for WrestleMania 35 would be announced in December.

The second tweet went into a bit more detail about which locations were in the running, with Detroit being the main focus.

The heart of the matter

These two journalists claim that Detroit will be named the venue for WrestleMania 35 in December. However, Detroit didn't actually put in a bid to host 2018's Showcase of the Immortals. wxyz.com reports the following,

The Detroit Sports Commission, which submits bids for major sporting events throughout the city of Detroit, said despite the rumor they did not submit a bid for WrestleMania 35, only 33 and 34.

So, there you have it, unless WWE is planning to ignore a whole bunch of rules and regulations and go against the bidding process for entertainment venues, Detroit will not be hosting WrestleMania 35.

What's next?

That does, however, mean that we could be looking at New York City or Philadelphia as potential hosts for the WWE's grandest show of them all. Whilst the rumours were wrong on Detroit, the two sources above have been fairly reliable in the past and it's unlikely they'd be completely wrong.

Author's take

As someone who currently lives in England, I find it hard to worry about where Wrestlemania will be hosted, as it's unlikely I'll be flying out to Philadelphia or New York.
