Santino Marella retires from the WWE ring; to continue in a non-wrestling role

Santino Marella bids farewell

At the Live Event in Toronto, WWE superstar Santino Marella announced his retirement from in-ring wrestling in a surprising promo after the intermission.

The Milan Miracle, dressed in a regular outfit, appeared in front of his home fans as he informed them about his third neck injury which prompted him to take this decision. He then talked about his wish to wrestle in his hometown and how delighted he would have been if he was introduced as “Hailing from Toronto” while he was wrestling.

However, he mentioned that he will be continuing to work with the WWE in a non-wrestling role just like he had stated in a recent interview.

Santino has been involved in some outside-ring work lately including YouTube segments and bumpers on the WWE network commercial work for the Stamford, Connecticut-based company such as the Twisted Tea in-show advertisement on the June 30, 2014 Raw and has also been a spokesman recently for an anti-bullying campaign with sponsor Juicy Drops.

Before bidding farewell to the squared circle, Santino left a clue that he may also take up the role of a General Manager either in Raw or Smackdown since those positions has been left vacant after Brad Maddox and Vickie Guerrero were fired.

The crowd stood up and chanted “Santino” as the former Intercontinental champion left the arena to a loud applause.
