Roman Reigns could have a huge challenger in his future
Roman Reigns could have a huge challenger in his future

What's the story?

Roman Reigns came up short at WrestleMania this past weekend as he battled Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship, but Reigns has already been given a rematch for the Championship at The Greatest Royal Rumble in a few weeks, but Reigns could be looking over his shoulder for a completely different challenger in the coming months.

In case you didn't know...

Roman Reigns has been groomed to become the face of the company over the past few years and is rumored to be lifting the Universal Championship when he takes on Brock Lesnar at the show in Saudi Arabia on April 27th.

Reigns was completely dominated when he faced Lesnar this past weekend before a stray elbow caused a huge cut on his hairline and he began to bleed profusely. It seems that despite this Reigns has remained positive about his future in WWE and could move forward to become Champion in the coming weeks if Lesnar is set to leave the company for UFC.

Kenny Omega has been speculated to be making the switch over to WWE in recent months with many fans convinced that he was going to be part of The Royal Rumble, but when he signed a new contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling, it seemed that fans hopes were dashed.

The heart of the matter

Roman Reigns updated his Twitter earlier today to say that he would fight anyone in any country at any time and it seems that he attracted the attention of NJPW star Kenny Omega who has now got the WWE Universe talking about a potential match between the two stars.

Could Omega be hinting that he is open to a match with the Big Dog anywhere anytime?

What's next?

Roman Reigns takes on Brock Lesnar in Saudi Arabia at the Greatest Royal Rumble ever for the Universal Championship in just 16 days time, so it will be interesting to see if Omega would still be open to a match with The Big Dog when he's Universal Champion.

Author's take

Chris Jericho was able to head over to NJPW earlier this year for Wrestle Kingdom 12 when he faced Kenny Omega and the former World Champion even asked Vince McMahon's permission before he competed for another company. It seems that if the company are open to allowing Reigns and Omega to fight in either NJPW or WWE, then the WWE Universe would definitely be behind it.
