SK's take on rumours of Authors of Pain debuting on SmackDown LIVE

Are the Author's of Pain making their way to the main roster?
Are the Author's of Pain making their way to the main roster?

The Author's of Pain was one of NXT's most dominant tag-teams with Paul Ellering leading Akam and Rezar to claim the NXT tag-team titles and steamroll through all of the competition the yellow brand had to offer.

The two men also featured in the WWE's first ever WarGames match at NXT TakeOver: WarGames to take on SAnitY, who won the tag-team titles off of them, and the insurgent Undisputed ERA in one of the best weapon's matches the WWE has put on for quite some time.

Now, they are the subject of main roster call-up rumours, which always happens when a dominant NXT Superstar or tag-team seem to outgrow their time in NXT. One user even posted on Reddit saying they'll debut on the post-Survivor Series SmackDown LIVE

A source has confirmed with me that The Authors Of Pain and Paul Ellering are indeed backstage tonight at SmackDown, and are set to make their debut and begin a feud with The New Day going into the next SmackDown PPV, Clash Of Champions.

These rumours are completely believable because the Authors of Pain have completely done everything there is to do on NXT, and haven't really got anyone else to feud with. They were a said to be backstage on Raw last night in their gear but didn't debut for some undisclosed reason.

They're also pretty great, with a fantastic look and stature as well as a great manager in Paul Ellering.

The New Day also find themselves at a bit of a loss on SmackDown LIVE as their incredible feud they had with The Usos is over, with the Tag-team champs moving on to American Beta, leaving Kofi Kingston, Big E and Xavier Woods with no-one to really face.

So, on paper, nothing about The Authors of Pain debuting on SmackDown LIVE and starting a feud with The New Day seems like a bad idea, especially if it does eventually go on to result in a match at the Clash of Champions pay-per-view.

Personally, I think this is a great idea and hope it happens, but I don't think anyone should ever give random people on the internet any trust when it comes to anonymous source rumours and spoilers. But it cannot be argued that sometimes, just sometimes, they turn out to be true. This just may well be one of them.
