WWE will of course want to protect Roman Reigns ahead of the rumored WM 34 main event.

As we head towards the end of 2017, all WWE fans have two things on their minds:

1) WrestleMania 34; and 2) the road that leads to it.

The biggest pay-per-view of the year is scheduled to take place on April 8th of 2018 in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

However, the main event of WM 34 has been almost set since even before WrestleMania 33, if we are to believe the widespread speculation.

Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar (c) for the RAW Universal Championship.

This is apparently supposed to be follow-up to the pair's match for the WWE World Heavyweight Title in the main event at WrestleMania 31 in 2015. That match never got a proper conclusion to because Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to make the bout a triple threat and consequently, "The Architect" won the match and title.

Hence, there is definitely an intrigue to see Lesnar vs. Reigns II three years later.

You only have to look at August's SummerSlam to notice that WWE have planted the seeds for the rematch between the driving forces of WWE, when Lesnar pinned The Big Dog to retain his Universal Championship in a Fatal 4-Way contest which also involved Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman.

Apart from that, Reigns and Lesnar have been made to look as strong as each other from WM 33 onwards, with both beating top notch opponents with one finisher (e.g. Lesnar defeating Styles at Survivor Series and Strowman at No Mercy, and Reigns with beating Cena at No Mercy and to The Undertake at WrestleMania).

WWE have also continued to try and get Roman Reigns over with the fans as a popular figure too, and the recent Shield reunion has helped with that goal to an extent.

So, with all that being said, you might be thinking, what's the problem?

Well, Roman Reigns is still Intercontinental Champion, and it is highly unlikely that WWE will want two titles on the line in one match at WrestleMania 34, no matter how strong they want Roman to look.

As WWE probably already know, it would be better to have two seperate matches for two separate titles.

But how do they take this mid-card title off of Reigns without making him weak for proposed this top of the card feud with Lesnar?

I believe it involves the Royal Rumble PPV on the 28th of January 2018, a Samoan Bulldozer and an A-Lister.

Reigns won the IC Title from then then Champion The Miz on the November 20th RAW, which was the day after the Survivor Series PPV. Reigns then put The Miz through the announcers' table with his Shield buddies (Ambrose and Rollins).

This was used as a way for The Miz to be written off WWE TV as he was scheduled to film his starring role in his movie, The Marine 6: Close Quarters.

As of late, it has seemed like The Big Dog would be defending the IC Championship at the Royal Rumble PPV against Samoa Joe, with Joe (kayfabe) injuring Reign's fellow Shield member Dean Ambrose.

However, it looks like we in the WWE Universe have forgotten about seven-time Intercontinential Title winner The Miz, who will be due his rematch for the Championship he lost once he makes his comeback to RAW, which is rumored to be on next week's edition of WWE's flagship show.

Therefore, with Joe in the picture as well, I predict with confidence that WWE will book an Intercontinental Title Triple Threat match for the Royal Rumble with Reigns defending his Championship against Joe and The MIz.

This would be perfect. As WWE can have Reigns drop the title WITHOUT being pinned or submitted, he can be kept strong for his supposed Universal Championship bout against Lesnar at WrestleMania.

And although The Miz has a prestigious connection to the IC belt, I would almost guarantee that WWE will use this opportunity to give Samoa Joe (who is apparently well-liked by WWE higher-ups) his first title on the main roster, by having him submit The Miz with the Coquina Clutch.

Reigns would avoid damage to his credibility, and it would keep him looking strong for Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar is almost guaranteed to retain his title at the same PPV in another triple threat contest versus Kane and Braun Strowman with Kane taking the pinfall in order to protect Strowman, another huge entity in WWE), and that will seemingly be Lesnar's last PPV match before WrestleMania 34.

The Beast is currently unadvertised for February's RAW Elimination Chamber PPV.

In my opinion, this is the PPV on which Roman Reigns will become the No.1 Contender for the Universal title, by winning the Elimination Chamber match that will likely occur to decide who will face Lesnar at WrestleMania.

A big victory in a match like this, which would involve five other Superstars, would make Reigns look like a million dollars heading into the main event of WrestleMania 34 against Lesnar.

It is expected that Reigns will win the match against Lesnar, as WWE look to coronate him as their top star of the future .

Let us know if you agree with my thoughts on how WWE will deal with the end of Reigns' IC Title reign and the main event of WrestleMania 34 in the comments below.
