The WWE has now put forth a post on its official website, asserting that Vince McMahon is set to make a huge announcement today at 3 PM ET.
The WWE Chairman and CEO has funded a new enterprise named as Alpha Entertainment—an entity separate from the WWE. McMahon recently sold off a large amount of his WWE shares, so as to fund his new company.
While the entire professional wrestling community, as well as the sports & entertainment industry, have been speculating as to what McMahon intends to do with Alpha Entertainment, we believe that the WWE boss intends to utilize it primarily to bring back the XFL.
It was recently revealed that McMahon is set to re-launch the XFL in 2020. However, with the WWE’s latest announcement, we could potentially accrue new details on the XFL over the next few hours.
The XFL saw just one season, which transpired back in 2001, however, considering how the NFL is going through a rough patch with the national anthem/kneeling controversy right now, it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility to see McMahon speed up the XFL’s revival rather than waiting to launch it until 2020.
