In recent years, WWE has ruined many WrestleMania events by having poor matches to close the show. The main event of WrestleMania should feature the best the company has to offer and should steal the show making the match the most talked about one for months.
The match between The Miz, Finn Balor and Seth Rollins for the Intercontinental Championship could very well be on this list but in my opinion, this match should kick things off at WrestleMania as it can set the tone for the entire event.
Without further ado here are top five matches that should main event WrestleMania 34 according to priority.
#5 Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey vs Triple H and Stephanie McMahon - Mixed Tag Team Match
Rowdy Ronda Rousey along with Kurt Angle will be competing in a mixed tag match against the power couple Stephanie McMahon and Triple H. The main reason for this match to be the main event of WrestleMania is the amount of publicity WWE would get if they put the mixed tag team match on last. This will be the first time a woman has participated in the main event match at WrestleMania.
Rousey is one of the biggest names going into WrestleMania this year and 2018 could very well be the year of 'The Rowdy One'. But considering all these wrestlers are either currently non-performing, WWE will not give this match priority over other matches on the list.
#4 Charlotte (c) vs Asuka - SmackDown Live Women's Championship
Asuka won the first ever women's Royal Rumble match at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view. After the Rumble match, Asuka was in the ring with SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte and Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss to decide whom she would be facing at WrestleMania. However, Ronda Rousey debuted, stealing the limelight from Asuka, and the decision was never made.
At WWE Fastlane, however, that question was finally answered when Asuka pointed to the WrestleMania sign. We know that WWE wants women to main event WrestleMania one day. This match will probably be the greatest women's match in WrestleMania history to do that, featuring two of the best female workers in the company.
#3 Brock Lesnar (c) vs Roman Reigns - WWE Universal Championship
The job which was unfinished at WrestleMania 31 will finally get done at WrestleMania 34. Roman Reigns outlasted six other men at the WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view to punch his ticket to WrestleMania 34, where he will face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship.
There is no doubt that Reigns is a supreme athlete and a good worker. He is improving his promo skills every time he holds a mic and he certainly has the looks to be the face of the WWE. But WWE has failed to make him fan favorite. No matter what they try, Reigns is always at the receiving end of boos.
Many fans believe this match to be the starting of 'Reigns Era' and WWE still believes that Reigns will be cheered if he pins Brock Lesnar in the middle at WrestleMania. The thing that can make this match a disaster is if it closes the show. WWE can still get what they want without making the fans angry if this match happens before any of the next matches on the list.
#2 John Cena vs The Undertaker
WWE usually misses out on the dream matches that fans want. For years, the WWE Universe has been hoping to see two of the most iconic stars of the WWE fight at The Grandest Stage of Them All. At WrestleMania 34, the WWE Universe gets a chance to watch one of the dream matches.
WrestleMania is synonymous with two names - Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker. Shawn Michaels competed in his last match in the main event of WrestleMania 26 against The Undertaker. The Undertaker has given so much to this business and it is time that he should lace up his boots one last time against an opponent of his choice in the main event of WrestleMania.
#1 AJ Styles (c) vs Shinsuke Nakamura - WWE Championship Match
There are two reasons for this match to be the main event of WrestleMania. The first reason is more of a bookish one. The winner of the Royal Rumble should challenge the champion of his choice in the main event of WrestleMania. Since Shinsuke Nakamura won the 2018 Royal Rumble match and chose WWE Champion AJ Styles as his opponent for WrestleMania, this match should be the main event.
The second reason is more of a fan in me wanting it. Ask any WWE fan about the most exciting match of this year's Mania, and the majority of them will say AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura.
AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura are two of the best performers in WWE today. 'The Phenomenal One vs The King of Strong Style' at The Grandest Stage Of Them All would be pretty outstanding.
If you have no idea what I am talking about, just watch their match at New Japan's Wrestle Kingdom 10 and imagine how epic it would be to put on that kind of a showcase at WrestleMania.
Just the thought of 75 thousand or more people singing Nakamura's theme song inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome could be enough to close the WrestleMania.
