Well, it’s officially WrestleMania season. WWE‘s Elimination Chamber, which is the final PPV before WrestleMania, was last night and it was pretty damn good in my opinion. Even though the ending of the PPV was a little underwhelming, every match of the card delivered and set a good pace for WrestleMania. Now it’s time to highlight the best of the best from the build-up to Elimination Chamber and the event itself.
Best Feud
Even though this encounter was a lot more predictable than their first bout, the build-up was arguably a lot more intense. It just goes to show that CM Punk, as great a wrestler he is, is way better character-wise when he’s chasing the title, especially when he’s convinced himself that he was still the WWE Champion. The Rock may not have been in peak performance mode, as some of his promos were a little odd (remember the “Crackhead” story?), but both men were successful in creating an interesting feud that led up to what was another must-see match.
Best Match
Winner: Elimination Chamber Match
In what was the most unpredictable match of the night, Jack Swagger emerged victorious after out-lasting 5 other men in an exciting chamber match to earn a shot at Alberto Del Rio’s World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania. From bell to bell, this match delivered. We got to see approximately 4 minutes of Jericho vs. Bryan, Randy Orton get thrown through the “bullet proof” pod, Mark Henry add everybody in the match to his Hall of Pain, and just an overall fantastic match.
Best Diva
Winner: Tamina Snuka
Okay, so the random impromptu no build-up bout between Kaitlyn and Tamina Snuka was pretty underwhelming to say the least, but Tamina had one hell of a Divas match with Layla on Smackdown, while Kaitlyn competed exclusively on Superstars and Saturday Morning Slam. So, Tamina gets the honor this time around.
Biggest Loser
Winner: Jinder Mahal
Why did Jinder Mahal find himself here without the rest of this 3MB members? Well, 3MB has been losing tag matches all month, and Jinder Mahal never sat out of them. Nope, he was in every single one of them and lost them all. So, while Heath Slater and Drew McIntyre saved themselves a loss on their record a few times, Mahal found himself as the biggest loser this month.
Best Superstar
Winner: The Rock
Listen, I (like most of the IWC) is not too keen on the Rock right now. I just think that if you are the WWE Champion, you have to work house shows and non-PPV shows, and actually show up every week. But the Rock had a great match with CM Punk at Elimination Chamber (even with the ring rust) and is heading into WrestleMania as the WWE Champion. I think that’s deserving enough.
